World One's press release has quite a lot of info about the tower. Read it all here.

Some interesting tidbits:

Quote:
World One will be located at Lodha Place, a landmark development on a 17 acre site, located on Senapati Bapat Marg and Shankarrao Nikam Marg in Upper Worli. The mixed‐use development will include 3 residential towers, a high‐end shopping avenue and a world‐class office building.
Quote:
World One shall be rated as GOLD LEED Certified building by the Green Building Council. It shall be one of the only 100+ storey buildings in the world to have this coveted certification, indicating a high level of environmental care in its construction and operations. The key environmental sustainability features include:
  • 100% water recycling and rain water harvesting – reducing water consumption by upto 50% over a conventional building
  • Use of VRV air‐conditioning and solar energy for common area lighting and water heating ‐ reducing electricity consumption by upto 40%
  • Waste segregation and recycling
Quote:
One of the landmark features of this iconic development with be an exclusive observatory called '1000' – located at a height of 1000 feet above the city. This open‐to‐air observatory will allow residents to enjoy fabulous views of the city and the Arabian Sea – it is estimated that a person can see as far away as 60 kms from the building from this height.
Quote:
Construction is expected to be carried out by one of the world's top civil engineering firms – those in the fray include Samsung Constructions (the constructors of the Burj Khalifa in Dubai), L&T (India's pre‐eminent civil engineering firm) and Grocon (Australia's leading high‐rise construction company).

Smile

I don't think these images have been posted here yet.

The height now says OVER 450 metres. Will they go higher than the Pentominium?

Typical floor plan for 1st to 40th Floor

Tentative Floor plan for 1st to 40th Floor (3 & 4 BHK Wing)

for such a long tower just 3 lifts? not possible. I work in a 'tower' which is 40 stories high and there are 20 lifts, considering its commercial. There should be at least 10 + another 6-10 private lifts

I don't know about newspapers but I've seen the ad for this a million times over the last few weeks online lol(probably on the Forbes website). I'll try to print screen the next one.

Lodha World one, in Paradise lost Mumbai

Another piece of high rise slum.........
what diff does it make to mumbaikars? It does not solve problems, but increases even more.....more and more NRI coming to stay and increasing population, thats all!

It is already crowding the overcrowded SB marg area of Parel.

Further to this, the observatory deck is not allowed for general visitors, its exclusively for the residents only....atleast they shud have opened and done something like Petronas towers malaysia....they opened the tower to visitors atleast upto certain level.

The area on which this is coming up was not a public/open area. It was defunct mill land. While it will certainly add to some level of crowding, I like to think of these supertalls as reasonably self contained for the most part (health clubs, swimming pools, spa etc). Despite the number of floors, the actual number of flats is low due to the fact that they all are 3+ BHK

Structures like this require a large skilled + unskilled labor pool that provides employement to scores of people. There is indirect effect on so many professions (architects, engineers, designers etc)....

I would prefer commercial supertalls that concentrate businesses in a smaller area. There are a few of those as well in the pipeline....

Lastly, there is no space...Redevelopment is the way to go. if done intelligently a lot of open space can be given back to the city...

not to mention give a source of employment to the labourers involved in contructing this.

People always overlook that.

Edit: seems occupied thought already mentioned it.
