Great photos! I've always wanted to check Philly out, but I've been told that it's dangerous, etc. How did you find the people there and the overall level of safety? It looks like an extremely interesting city to visit and I'd certainly go wild with my digital camera.

Are the buildings in the first 4 pictures new?

Come on! I've gone there a lot, it's no more dangerous feeling at worse than the area around Fenway in Boston. Don't go in the ghettos (which is hard) and you're good. I felt completely safe though. I think the only city you really need to watch out for on the East Coast is Baltimore, there it's easy to get lost and stuck somewhere you don't want to be.

Maybe Richmond

Wow ! i love this city ! beautiful Neo-Classic buildings !

I have the impression that the streets of the center are dynamics ( stores..ect ) ....a kind of small San Francisco or N-Y

Very nice! But why is it that older American architecture looks like it's part of a movie set..

Maybe because of its grandeur and theatricality of scale?

No. I'm referring to those smaller Georgian town houses, they look almost postmodern and remind me of a movie set.

Thank you for these stunning pics! Philadelphia really seems to be one of the most urban North American cities with a vibrant streetlife.

I think it's because the streets look very clean and empty.

Don't think so. The brickwork looks very modern.

I really enjoy the scale of the central city architecture.

Does anyone know whether the building in the center here is old or a modern reproduction?

Either way I think it's really beautiful.
