TOKYO! plus Yokohama, Kamakura

Before I start, I want to point out that I have like 1,000 pictures so please come back It will take me a few days to finish. First I want to start with residential Tokyo, you can see what average living is like in Tokyo, if you want to see skyscrapers and neon lights stick around for later.. With this thread I hope you can get a feel of what typical living is like for Tokyo residents, and not just the skyscrapers and neon lights.

The following pictures are in Suginami Tokyo, inbetween Nishi-Ogikubo and Ogikubo. Suginami is west of Shinjuku and close to it

This is the character for Suginami

Ahhh, this brings back memories! There is nowhere on earth like Tokyo! I look forward to more shots. I really should upload all of mine too, but I'm lazy.

Here is a video I took riding bike and taking a train in Suginami

If you are bored of the neighborhood just skip to 3:20 to see the city and later the train ride

Some more suginami pictures (forgot I had them..)

Great pics ( and videos ) - as always I love Japanese style urbanity - so dense yet clean, green and spacious..

Looking forward to more pics

Nice tour, I tend to think that we learn more about a city looking at it's residential areas then at it's center(s), keep them going

It's really nice to see another side of Japan - the 'suburban' areas. Thanks so much for these Nihon (:

Cool tour! I especially like the pleasant bicycle ride although I'm a bicyclophobe myself.

The neighborhoods don't look as Alien as I expected. Surprisingly calm, serene, lowrises, near total absence of cars. That's almost the opposite of what I envisaged.

Keep them coming

Interesting. Tokyo is one of the most densest cities in the world. I complain about Toronto but it seems a world from Tokyo. I've always wondered what makes people live in such seemingly uncomfortable, densely populated cities?

From the pictures it doesn't look like an uncomfortable place to live.
