This is probably just me being ignorant, but it looks as thought the shape of World One is continued below ground level, and as though there are provisions for exterior wall openings down there, too. That's atypical of most of the towers I've observed being constructed. Is it just the vantage point of the last few photos that are messing up perspective, or is there something different about this building?

I think the pics are taken from a height and give a false impression of the floors being under the ground level !!

What about those old poor houses in foreground? Will they be demolished?

Eventually!! I don't think the developers would let them as it is, by the time the project is completed.

the construction sites look quite dirty and chaotic in comparison to European or US construction sites.

The quality of construction has nothing to do with the looks of the site.Mumbai is one of the densest, perhaps the densest megacity in the world. So it's bound to get chaotic and congested.

Haha I kinda expected this type of answer from you.
As abhinash said the surroundings have nothing to do with the building strength and quality.

Yeah....In case People haven't noticed.....India is still a "developing" country.... Building site cleanliness standard may not be on par with developed countries (hence called developing)....But these standards change...in time.

The dirty and chaotic part is the surrounding area, not the site itself. If you were to see the site in isolation, it would probably look like any other supertall site around the world. There's not much the builder can do about that. Besides, it is worth noting that the monsoon has also set in.

This ones rising beautifully.

Sadly, the construction workers who are building these palatial apartments are themselves living under pathetic conditions...
