IMO Mumbai one of the cities with most potential of skyline growth in the near future, especially if the info here can be trusted: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...ings_in_Mumbai

She is blessed with similar conditions as New York or Hong Kong, being a narrow strip of land jutting out into the ocean. This and the fact that the city hosts more than 20 million souls and counting and is the economic center of a billion + population nation can only hint at insane vertical growth to come.

What does that mean for the thread status? The main tower has been sitting on hold for a very long time now. You have to go back ten pages in this thread (December 2014-January 2015) to find pictures where the tower is significantly shorter than it is in the most recent ones. Just count floors from the parapet, or from the two floors with brighter floor plates. There clearly hasn't been any progress on the "star attraction" in this thread for some thirty months (if it has, it's not significant enough to be immediately discernible in pictures).

Should we petition the mods to change the thread to "On Hold", or keep it as U/C because the smaller tower is rising, even though the building in question is not a supertall? Because face it, people are coming to this thread to see progress on the supertall tower, and that tower in particular has not gone anywhere since January 2015.

EDIT: This was my thousandth post? Well, uh, thanks everybody! Shoutouts to... all of you!

Looks like a mod addressed the issue and moved/retitled the thread.

By the way, going back those ten pages I described in the post above was a little depressing. Here's a selection of posts I found while looking:

Prophetic words. This was just before, or just after, work stopped.

-------------------------

So it looks like they will moving onto the third wing soon and after that should speed things up. Hopefully they got all the clearances judging by their confidence to complete the tower early next year.

Interestingly enough, Marina 106 is also on hold now. It has sat dormant for a year, pretty much to the day, as of writing this.

Munwon seems to be the first to get it. No significant progress has been documented for nine months at this point.

But the project is not on hold since Work on internal and other towers are going on.
Pals_RGB brings up an explanation.

That seems like a stretch today. If the workers all went to work tomorrow, then maybe this could be done before New Year's Eve 2020, but with the current pace...

As far as I can tell, this was the last time that question was asked. For towers with visible construction, it will be asked almost every other day. Now it's been almost a year since anybody even wanted to know the current height (current then, current now, current a year and a half before...).

Hopefully, things will change soon!

I say just cap it and complete it. Mumbai needs to beef up its skyline and maybe in 10 years start building supertalls. Mumbai is like Manila or Jakarta 30 years ago. It needs to mature a little and develop its skyline.

Had there been anything to report, it probably would have been reported. SSC'ers are not the kind of people to just ignore it when a stagnated supertall project starts up again. As long as the Mumbaian (Mumbaii? Mumbaite? Mumb?) members stay silent on this, the tower is probably remaining in the exact same state it has been in for the last two and a half years.
