A very successfull solution of the 'design vs. engineering' dilemma that comes with high buildings.

Also, the building looks different from all sides, which is a major plus.

10 points for this classic beauty !

BTW: It always reminds me of this:

This one is a true classic... Even though the Petronas may look better, the Sears will always be special to us scraper fans.. Especially since it was the first real super-supertall!

$15x million, yes. That's probably in 1973 dollars though. I don't know what it would be when you adjust for inflation, but it would certainly be much higher.

Here's another interesting, very sad picture:

Good point but I wonder if there's any truth to it.

I think this one deserves a 10/10, it's just beautiful, dark, tall, everything I'd want in a monster of a skyscraper.
The Sears has been called a "box" a little too much I think, and it's not even the correct accusation.
It's not a box, it's a "boxes" if that makes any sense...

10/10

The reason my screen name is Chicago103 is because I think Chicago is the greatest city in the world and the 103rd floor of the Sears Tower is the best place in the world to view Chicago in addition to being the highest occupied floor in the world.

my5ux, not too long ago, we had a big discussion about the Petronas & Sears. And you passionately defended the Petronas. Now I don't believe you've switched side.
