hkskyline's 2009 SHANGHAI Photo Collection #3

Part 1 : http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=1148257
Part 2 : http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=1150273

This is a typical aged Shanghai building - low-density, and using grey stones.

New skyscrapers are everywhere, but I didn't feel claustrophobic at all. Pudong's financial district is quite well-planned with open spaces here and there to give people a chance to relax amidst the jungle.

Some older neighbourhoods are hard to revitalize given they lack even the basic necessities.

Since it was very pricey to go visit observation decks in this part of town, I thought of skipping one instead of going up both.

The sun decided to play some tricks that morning.

The waterfront promenade from the Pudong side is quite a distance from the subway station and the major landmarks, but it is well worth the time and the views are very rewarding.

Welcome to the new Shanghai. Welcome to the new China.

Tomorrow Square's irregular shape is ironically comprised of very typical squares and triangles.

Sadly, these new cafes cost nowhere near where they should be. This has become an upscale area.

The aliens have landed!

Destroy and rebuild ... the theme in Shanghai nowadays.

The Peace Hotel was under renovation and will soon re-open under an international brand.

This place should also look awesome at night as the Bund lights up.

The collection times seem too exact to be true. Would the postman really be there at 14:16?

SWFC is done!

In a few more years, yet another supertall will change this scene.
