The Olde Shopping Arcades of Piccadilly

Come and walk along the shops that line the old indoor shopping Arcades that spread through Piccadilly and Bond Street.

Upmarket brands from Gucci and Tiffany vie with the old specialist boutiques that sell everything from the finest clothing apparel to antiques and armour!

Featured in this episode are the Piccadilly, Burlington, Royal and Princes Arcades, alongside the more modern upmarket Brands that line Old Bond Street and Burlington Gardens.

Take a step into the Royal Academy of Arts at Burlington House, as you listen to the chimes on the hour of the clock at the famous grocery Fortnum and Mason.

Sally A. Kitt Chappell narrates a look at the numerous new green spaces that have enlivened and rejuvenated the city of Chicago--Millennium Park and a lot of others less well known. Her book is Chicago's Urban Nature: A Guide to the City's Architecture + Landscape, published by the University of Chicago Press.

In this episode I wanted to contrast the fresh new architecture in the the City of London with the much older buildings around and about.

The LLTV camera takes us to Bishopsgate (Primrose Street) to look at the contrasting architectures of two buildings - one, Broadgate Tower, a few months old and and the other a church more than 250 years old.

We step from the modern public space of Exchange Square with sculptures and waterfalls behind Liverpool Street station to the church of St-Botolph's-Without-Bishopsgate built in the mid 1700s and full of ornate religious paintings an icons, where we attend a wedding ceremony!
