great photos guys ! some of these places are exuberant for even the ultra-ostentatious houses in the gulf states..

Most definently, i would say they surpass the standards of an average house located in the suburbs of London.

Gorgoues! One question, are all houses in Baghdad like this or is it typically the rich who own such homes? And what would the house of an average earning family look like?

no i think they're historical houses on Haifa St and other areas, the rich own homes like the modern white one i posted previously...

I think we should make it clear to people viewing this thread who are not familiar with Iraq, The houses in this thread are not representative of the majority. Al though the media does not normally included images of the wealthier parts of Baghdad (or Iraq for that matter), one shouldn't be confused and assume that the average Iraqi can afford the houses displayed herein.

that's true but its also good to show the different architectural styles which are present in iraq

Okay, well i think the government should do its best to preserve the abandoned houses, they really are something even as a touristic attraction.

they should be heritage listed, but i don't think much is being done by the non-existent government...some of them will sadly be knocked down
