Im sorry but I have to disagree but SM, Robinsons and Ayala are doing their share in protecting the environment. They have water waste treatment plants for their used liquid and solid waste. They encourage recycling and in SM's case they using biodegreadable plastics. They also provide reusuable shopping bags. Malls are not the problem, theyre not killing the Phils. other countries has big malls, HK, singapore, japan has lots of shops and malls, I dont think they're responsible for "killing" their country.

your perception is shallow . If you analyze the symbolic meaning of these super giant malls in the PHilippines while the general masses of patrons are living at or just barely above poverty you will understand the tragedy. Don't compare it to those other countries whose citizens enjoy a relatively affordable and just cost of living. The malls are thriving because of the ofws. A cup of coffee in these malls will eat up an average wage earner thirty percent of their daily salary. They are so huge ,big and rich while the people are so poor making sure that the future generations of Filipinos will have to become ofws. It's hard to understand when you're just a teenager when you get alittle older and wiser you will see and understand why the Filipinos remain to be poor . Exploitation from inside(local politicians) and outside the country (foreign entitities), until the eyes are opened it will continue to be poor.

I owned a business that employs quite a number of employees. The employees behavior is a reflection of what pinoys are about these days. I have employees who are responsible for inventories and even with strict security, these people will steal no matter what. I pay them well, I follow the minimum wage and then some. Most of them are lazy, if I ask them if they finish their job, they would say yes but when i personally check on them, nothing is finish. Thats why i had to install cctv on the floor just to monitor their activities. Ganun din sa labas diba, we see people doing nothing all day but drinking and sleeping. Malalaki ang katawan and yet ayaw magtrabaho. Maraming trabaho kung tutuusin kaso ayaw maghanap gusto laging umaasa na lang. Im sorry but Im just venting my frustrations.

River warriors, eco-precinct cops to keep Pasig clean

.

MANILA, Philippines—The country’s first dedicated police precinct to handle environment-related offenses will soon rise beside the highly polluted Estero de Paco.

The Eco-Precinct, to be built in the middle of a busy public market ringed by garbage-strewn alleyways, will be manned by a civilian force of 200 “River Warriors” under the supervision of police officers in the adjacent Paco police community precinct.

“You cannot clean the river if you do not clean the estero,” said Gina Lopez of the ABS-CBN Foundation, whose Kapit Bisig Para Sa Ilog Pasig (KBIP) spearheaded the project with the Philippine National Police and the city government of Manila.

“This will be one model of startling magnificence. If you clean the estero, the peace and order, health and economy improve. If you do it in one place and you do it really well, everything improves,” Lopez said.

The ground-breaking rites for the Eco-Precinct were held last Thursday at the Paco Market, attended by Lopez, PNP Chief, Director General Jesus Verzosa, Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim and Lopez.

nothing to do with the malls... malls makes our cities lively... the problem is our government malfunction... and those people na umaasa lang na palamunin ng goberno... plus crocs and bentahuso mentality

Nothing against Malls, but they should be regulated as well to protect small businesses. And grabe ang traffic na dulot ng mga ito.... Look what happened to the Jeepneys, unregulated, ano nangyari sa streets natin?
