225 w 57th was once rumored to be designed by Herzon and de Meuron like 56 Leonard. I remember that edited photo was posted before it was announced Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill won the rights to design this tower. Someone probably superimposed Maha Nakhon where 225 w 57th will be because it looks just as crazy as one of HDM's works.

At 1,550 this building should be safe for a while but if the market keeps up it probably won't be long before there will be ones even taller.
No, the equation isn't too simple as you describe it.

The unit's value increase at a certain point with height, yes, the unblocked views and prestige thing. The problem is, when you go too high, like more than 1600 ft, the prices tend to go down, nobody that has this kind of money would like to buy an apartment with full "sky views", at this height you will not get CP views and the majority of Midtown skyline, unless you walk through your living room and look down.

Thats the reason that many people would prefer to get the Weill penthouse at 15 CPW instead of Loeb's, in the low floors you can just sit down and enjoy a dinner overlooking the stunning Central Park, and belive, Manhattan prices are driven by CP views.

You may do so, others don't. I agree with Costa&Ribeiro.

Wouldn't it be cool if your apartment is just above the angry clouds during a thunderstorm??

You will just see a spectacular light show on your terrace created by the lightning flashing through the clouds and enjoying the symphony of thunder from way down below... all the while you are enjoying a sunny day in your abode having a nice cocktail drink waving at the passengers in a plane flying by.

No, like Desertpunk said on the last page someone edited Maha Nakhon into the skyline because they wished something like it would be built in NY.

New York is getting this, 56 Leonard Street.

As Maha Nakhon it have some of these crazy pixel-like hanging floors but both designs are quite different. Height is also different Maha Nakhon is supertall Leonard tower is 250m.

Here the similarities - hanging floors:

56 Leonard Street

Maha Nakhon

56 Leonard Street thread is here: http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=708580

Or have no visibility at all if you're just above the cloud base.
But I like the idea.

Thats tempting indeed, but I think thunderstorm clouds ends rather high above the ground, aren't they?

^Thunderstorms go up tens of thousands of feet. We have a long way to go before we regularly get towers that high.

You've got a better chance of residing above the thunder clouds by booking a stay on the International Space Station. Or, if you're Larry Ellison, commissioning a space yacht. (Yes, that is in the works, as insane as that sounds.)

LOL! OK! here's a revision...

How about... hanging out in your terrace way up in a residential skyscraper being soo tall you can witness TWO sunsets the same day all the while having a cocktail and waving at the passengers in a plane fly by??

Did You Know That the Burj Khalifa Is So Tall That you Can Watch Two Sunsets On the Same Day?

Here's a factoid that will blow your mind: the Burj Khalifa—the largest building in the world—is so tall that you can watch the sunset from the base of the building, get into an elevator right to the top, and watch the sunset all over again.

But in order to do that, you'd have to watch the first of the two sunsets from the ground, then taken the elevator up to catch the second. And the ground is for peasants.

True or else I may miss the 2nd Sunset! Never mind. Would just be happy having a cocktail on my terrace waiving at the passengers in a helicopter.

Nope, that's just a place holder for that one particular photoshop pic, done by a forumer. So far we have no clue on how this building will look like
