This tower will be epic! Constructing a 500m tall skyscraper in the midst of a super dense urban fabric will be a sight to behold.

There are several more sites in this area on which I foresee super-talls.

There's 220 CPS and the Solow site. Can you point out some others? You know, for us daydreamers?

1. On the south side of 57th between 5th and 6th, but closer to 6th, an entit y owns 3 adjacent lots, 2 of which are empty, and the small structure on the 3rd is largely (if not completely) empty. Clearly, the owner is trying to assemble a larger site. Next to these 3 lots, for instance, is a pretty large, white brick tower that houses all market rate rental s, and thus, could be cleared at will.

2. The Directors' Guild building will be redeveloped.

3. In time, the Ziegfeld Cinema will be redeveloped.

4. The Park Lane and 650 Madison may both get redeveloped. There are many more similar sites.

You mean Sheikh Zayed is New York's 42nd, right?

Sheikh Zayed is the road all the Dubai supertalls are located on. He said Sheikh Zayed is New York's 42nd because 42nd was the first road to handle multiple supertalls.

Thanks, RW! I thoroughly enjoyed putting stars all over my Google Maps where we can expect something.

I don't suppose there's any chance, based on the size of those parcels and the zoning, that something might come along that's actually taller than 225, is there?

My pleasure.

I think that 1550 is about as tall as NY will ever get.

Really? I would have thought the midtown rezoning could produce a tall office building + some residential + a spire = megatall.

Not to mention that developers these days tend to squeeze in as many air rights as they can so they can maximize their space and build bigger and taller, I wouldn't be surprised if we get a megatall in the very near future.

Well, let's hope that Barnett sticks a sweet crown or spire on this guy then.

But I have to say, I also would have thought that at least the Midtown East rezoning would support a taller tower eventually, even though the current office market isn't nearly as hot as residential. I'm curious to know what makes you say so.

Roberts guess is just that-a guess. You shouldn't take it as anything more than that. There will probably be taller proposals in the future, but in the near future this is probably as big as it will get.

P.S.: The Hilton on 6th Ave will be redeveloped in time. That is a huge site that can be cleared, at will.
