Disappointed to hear about the height reduction. But it is what it is. At least it wasn't reduced arbitrarily by some inane city bureaucrat like the Tower Verre. This street is going to be amazing by the end of the decade. And then we can hope for the city's tallest structure on 42nd street (where it belongs, the heart of Midtown), after the rezoning.
I doubt that 51 E 42nd will be taller than 1, 250', let alone 1, 400.

If New York cannot get over 1400ft in roof height, thats pretty sad, especially with all these developments for none to crack that barrier.

It seems that sbarn on SSP was pretty right on about the height and size in the first place.

I agree, this was our chance and it was blown.

At least the comm. ring of 1WTC is 1405 or something, that's kind of like a crown :p

This photo by ILNY shows the site of 220 CPS from the site of 225 W 57th.

I can't wait to see 225, 107, Verre, 252 E 57th, and 45 E 60th in this panorama (and hopefully, a new supertall Park Lane and 650 Madison).

Well, we just have to wait for the next one, hopefully that one doesn't end up at a height below 400m.

There simply is no skyline anywhere that compares with this diversity!

The black clad, angled building directly to One57's left is just over 700 feet tall for reference.

Cityspire, the tower with the rounded top and whitish/silvery facade is around 840 feet.

I'm now REALLY having trouble believing or at least understanding the decision to reduce this tower. Maybe a deal with 220 was made but 107 shows that costs considerations or hurricane fears are bullshit.

It was probably just too thin to go that high.

Obviously not the only reason but definitely could have been one

Even at 500m, it should be fatter than 107, isn't it like double the air rights?

225's blueprint is as big as 1WTC base. Given that much space, it isn't seemingly to rise a thin tower there. In fact, I'd imagine as a really thick tower.

Unlike others in NYC this has a realtively large site. Maybe they just didn't want to blow the skyline too much out of proportion.

I'm not so sure if they care about that. I thougt this tower was to have some setbacks, making it more skinny at the top?
