Depends on what kind of presentation they're having. Tough to get good pics of a slideshow or poster exhibits while people are speaking.

I took that to mean basically anything 1,423 ft tall will be an instant icon. So far the design details themselves don't seem very iconic or inspiring...

Oh, i get it, must be why details are slowly coming out about the way it looks. I think it's definitely boxy with different layers of boxes. I personally like boxes, so I'm excited to see what this tower looks like.

I am sure Kanto will lose his mind from excitement.

It'll be really nice but maybe not transformative like the original Tower Verre design.

1,423ft ain't bad but I really hoped for a solid 1,500 footer. I guess it could be worse so maybe I should be happy. Building on demand and making $$$ doesn't get you a megatall in New York, at least not for now.

From nyyimby twitter account:

@newyorkyimby: Blatantly obvious Nordstrom Tower is only cantilevering to maximize views blocked by future 220 CPS yet issue totally ignored!!

@newyorkyimby: The board did a terrible job addressing the cantilever; YIMBY's question over its necessity & implication of Vornado's 220 CPS was denied

I'm surprised they didn't drag him out kicking and screaming, awesome. Hope the 220 problem gets mentioned in the inevitable articles about this tower.

Poor usafarid. I wouldn't doubt it if he goes postal when he sees the 1,423 foot figure.

I'm wondering if the cantilever affected the height reduction. 220CPS should cantilever too and go supertall!

So there may be some massing flair here that helps the tower get closer to that 'iconic' status.

New York will be the king of 400m - 500m towers!

Confirmed by Gordon Gill at the LPC hearing: Extell's Nordstrom Tower at 217 West 57th will rise 1,423' and 10".

I hope that they include the 10" in the measurement. Technically the Chrysler Building is 1,046'4.75", putting it ahead of NYTT by 5".
