Today's gotta be the best day of the year. I can't even begin to tell how happy I am. The height, the design, everything I ever dreamed of. Watching the video and reading all the info from the conference was a truly mystical experience and it confirmed that all the years I spent on this forum weren't for nothing, that there is greatness in NYC, that NYC can reach the stars, that NYC is the capital of the world

From what I've seen so far the building is in my opinion the second most beautiful building in NYC (the most beautiful is 432 Park). It is a masterpiece and among the most beautiful buildings in the world (if the fan made render of the top, which was approved by BabyBackribs as looking like the building they presented, is accurate). I think this definitely is in general the final product that we'll get, otherwise they wouldn't bother making such a press conference. And I sure as hell love it this way. I was dissapointed by the Hudson Yards, I was dissapointed by Larry's part of the WTC, but all of that dissapointment was outweighed by the perfect beauty of 432 Park and 225 West. Thank you Gary, thank you Nordstrom, you made this day unforgetable to me

Even an hour after I saw the vid I'm still singing:

I was made for lovin' you Nordstrom
You were made for lovin' me
And I can't get enough of you Nordstrom
Can you get enough of me

I was made for lovin' you Gary
You were made for lovin' me
And I can't get enough of you Gary
Can you get enough of me

I hope that isn't the final design, cause it's ******* horrible. What a waste of good space it would be if that is the final design.

^ Really? I wish I got that kind of excitement the way I got with 107. I'm going to try to keep an open mind here until we get the official more detailed release of the renderings.

This tower is terrible. I wish it were shorter.

In the screen shots from the video...I might be crazy here...but I am seeing a shadow near the top of the tower...maybe a setback or a notch at the very top...anyone else see this?...or is this the 60's coming back to haunt me.
Look carefully at the far right image:

This tower is a good design, its not as bad as some people here say it is, I've seen worse. And also, does anyone know when construction is planned to start, and when it is planned to be completed?

I haven't looked so much at a grainy video since the Cloverfield monster was revealed in a bootleg teaser.

BTW, I think there should be an ordinance forbidding supertalls right on top of Central Park, particularly CPS. One block back, between 58th & 57th, is close enough.

I'm going to reserve my final judgment for when final renderings come out. I really like the idea of a cantilevered base. One of my favorite things when I went to NYC was eating lunch underneath Citigroup Center in a nice little plaza underneath the building. This cantilever could provide an awesome plaza like that, so I'm all for it.

Nordstrom has announced back in June 2012 that their store will open in 2018.

2 concrete trucks are on site right now. Looks like a little netting has been removed on Park fašade. Perimeter is being poured currently. Looks like they're working later this evening.

I agree. This tower fits well for NYC; simplicity, cantilever and all.

For those people complaining that this tower is "too simple" then go to the Hudson Yards project. All the Shanghai-style funhouse whacky glass shapes you could hope for.

I'll try to draw some renders this evening of the tower since all we have right now is blurry. If anyone has any specific angle they'd like, I'll be happy to do it.

We should not be quick to judge this tower. A lot of people were horrified by the inital renders of 432 Park and now look at how good that is turning out...

Le't's wait for more renders.

Not sure what thread you are reading but people complains mostly for it being overcomplicated and messy.

But I won't give my final judgment until I see final renders those can always change ones mind.

I'm sure we will all like it more once we see better renderings.

In terms of height though 1423 is definitely heading in the right direction, even if it is slightly.

Buildings are gradually growing taller than 1WTC and that's a good thing.

And for the first time ever I find myself in the position of actually preventing a NYC project to see the light of day. Never thought this would happen!
Nothing China makes looks good ... not a single Chinese skyscraper has any redeeming qualities. They're all amateurish plasticky-looking wastes.
