Yup yup. You know sir robert, I once watched a documentary about hiking the Appalachian trail and they did end up taking a detour into New York City at one point... It's on my bucket list lol

Robert has contributed a lot and I consider his insights invaluable and very much appreciated. Like he said people, and you know who you are...if you don't like his posts, don't read and throw a sly remarks out there. Ignore it.

RW. don't respond. These people are baiting you and they would totally be happy if you get brigged. Don't give them the satisfaction.

This tower needs to pay deference to Central Park. I.e, organic forms. That would be ideal. The base already looks like roots, now make the top look like a tree, with a crown, lol. Oh, and make it green. As green as green can be. Don't forget the flood lights to fill in the shadows in the park.

i'm still hoping they stick a light up "N" on the crown. Good for Nordstrom, good for New York

Okay let's keep this thread about the tower, Robert Walpole is not this tower therefore should not be the main topic of discussion.

i prefer the cantilevered design a lot more, the height decrease sucks, but the building not being so skinny makes up for that twice and part of the building floating is simply epic. also the variance in the top bit of the building, makes the design a bit more interesting.

Which begs the question, Robert... all this time and we still don't know what it will look like for certain. What's Extell waiting for? Is it true a player as big as Extell doesn't even have full funding lined up yet?

I think the hold up more than anything is that for the longest time they did not know what design they will be going with until recently with the deal with the students arts league.

For all we know they may already have the funding lined up and not officially announced as we all know that Extell is notoriously secretive.

The fact they forced a deadline with arts league and paid millions indicates to me they are ready or very close.

Keep in mind there was no official news with with JDS securing funding with the revised 111 W 57th street. We all found out from a letter to the dept of buildings that they had funding in place and still no news released to media.

I just hope it will be at least a shade taller than Sears/ Willis Tower and that the cantilever including boxy, clumsy mass that we have seen in renderings and scales isn't an approximation of the final design.

I think a lot of people on this site feel the same way. Just
Bring back tallest roof height to New York City, where it belongs...

For those of us who are unfamiliar with those documents...what exactly makes you think that?

In simple terms it's an application to build the part of the building that's above ground, meaning the actual building.
