Alright, thanks. Even though I'm admiring pre-war architecture, this didn't look valuable, not even in the ensemble. At least in this state.

However, the new tower isn't that interesting or timeless either and might be torn down carelessly just as well one day.

During the mid eighties it was where NY's Hard Rock Cafe was.

The shorter building at 225 W. 57th St. was a 1909 Jugendstil knock-off built by B.F. Goodrich. It was denied landmark status. Another B.F.Goodrich Building at 1780 Broadway just around the corner, was granted landmark status as a classic Automobile Row structure.

It'd take a considerably greater effort to tear down a 1550 ft building. In fact, it's never even been done. Am I correct in saying that the Singer Building still holds the record for tallest building purposefully demolished?

I love the WIP board with the blank white square. I lol'd.

They're playing with danger with that blank sign. I don't know what New Yorkers are like, but if that was in London, well...

"Hey, that new Nordstrom building sure looks like a giant dick. I guess it's one of those new fangled post-modern buildings, eh?

From SSP I was really hoping that this will be completed in like late 2016 or early 2017.

That blank slate is great:

Well, we have rather detailed massing renders. I suppose it wouldn't differ too much when it comes to general proportions and structure.

Hopefully it'll get some setbacks and the proportions right at least.
Not just another 432 Park Ave casualty please.

I've been thinking back quite a bit to that video with Barnett in his office and all those models. There's that one sloped-roof model that a few have identified as the original incarnation of One57 ... but something about it has been bugging me for a while. I dug through the thread to find the photo in question, and this jumped out at me:

That sloping near the base base appears a heck of a lot like a cantilever (which, to my knowledge, was never a part of One57's design). Combined with that permit diagram with the sloped roof, I'm starting to strongly suspect that the model in this photo is representative of what the design will be.

In which case, **** yes, because this looks dope.

What unfortunate hand placement.

I wasn't going to mention it, but there's even some motion blur...

I said exactly the same thing, this looks awfully close to what was submitted to DOB, and Barnett seemed real proud of those models. I really doubt he had them there for no reason. Hope it's not wishful thinking on my part.

If this tease of a photo is anything close to resembling the final building, then gentlemen... it looks like we have a winner!

Wouldn't make sense as the cantilever, as only the very bottom gets the east side peek out. And I would hope the sloped roof would mimic One57.

Well what's frustrating is that the bottom of the model is cropped out of frame (clearly that's not the part where the model is sitting on the table). But if you take the part at the bottom of the frame to be ~300 feet up, I think it makes sense.

Are you sure those were "models"?
