RW was a great contributor, much more so than certain other members of this community. Though I don't see how any of this is relevant at all.

I wonder if the base will change at all given a design change. Nordstrom will occupy those floors, so probably not.

It's kind of an insult to our intelligence to think we wouldn't know it was him but I don't think anyone actually cares enough to ban him again. Plus he provides useful information sometimes.

There's more of said entertainment in the vanderbuilt thread.

Don't forget about JamesMadison. I think we all knew Robert would be back. Personally as long as people are nice, I take no issue with banned members returning. Still boggles my mind how people can get so worked up over tall buildings. And this is coming from somebody who loves tall buildings. Even the ugly ones like 217.

What happened to JamesMadison? Why would he create so many accounts and why does he get banned all the time? isn't it supposed to be somebody with special information.. I thought he was respected here.. It bemuses me to see him banned all the time. 0_0 I thought he was the one who broke the news about 432 park design, so why is he banned again?

What an amazing guy, he can really get that many accounts, that's stunning. what a star

ha, 217 is just bland, i wouldn't say UGLY. Tall buildings are amazing and powerful things, but yeah, why would people really wanna bust a ball for that. My mind is now boggled utterly and thoroughly.

He's probably just a kid, but if he were banned we would be missing out on entertainment watching him talk to himself.

But enough about him, this project is making me so anxious and I'm reaaally hoping we won't be disappointed.

I don't get it... What is this building ->225 West 57th, 433.7m<- that is illustrated in the SSP site, but ->217 West 57th Street, 472m<- is not there ?? Is it the one and the same building ? Because Google Earth also gives them almost the same location...

Yeah it's the same building. Different addresses have been used at different times and in different capacities (the site is composed of a range of legitimate addresses).

Ok. What baffled me the most was the difference in height, almost 40 meters which is quite a lot... What's the deal with that and what is the real truth about the final height ? ...Closer to 500 or 400 meters...?

We don´t even have a final design, let alone the exact height. Patience my brother you will need to have.

The height depends on whether the final design has a cantilever or not.

A cantilever is a type of melon.

There's a building full of artists that would be directly below this melon if it was built. They had to vote on whether to allow the melon or not, as was their right.

To retain the same total floor space the building will be much higher without the melon, but also thinner and probably a different shape.

Basically, the reason we don't have final renders, and the reason we don't know final heights or pretty much anything else, is because of melons.

the final height is unknown and will likely be between those two figures.
