I feel the need to take things down a notch and manage everyone’s expectations. I really do.

Doesn’t look like he is holding something back??

Strap your seatbelts people and stay tuned! I believe he has to make this project stand out amongst the competition along Billionaire row and I believe he will. Competition is good! Competition is healthy and competition will give the consumer, ultimately a better product.

The SHVO man maybe gunning for his spot in NYC's development world but he just may have something to say about it.

That teasing is starting to be too much to bare. I'm just gonna ignore this thread till something is revealed.

Outstanding. I'm awaiting this beauty with bated breath. From what I've been reading, It surely promises to be a shining beacon of quality design and height. NYC will hopefully have a new icon in a prime location.

I agree, I think the 100 story thing is a marketing ploy. We shall see.

I guess we ought to ask Mr. YIMBY whether the 100-story reveal was his big news (and if so, whether he can shine some light on the credibility of the figure), or if there's something else we should be keeping our eyes open for. New info does tend to come in bunches, after all.

So... whaddaya say, Mr. YIMBY?

The tower's position on the edge of Central Park, and the prospective height. makes a good design very important, After all, this will be seen by millions of tourists up close and personal and native NY'ers enjoying CP. That's why hopefully we will see a new iconic design be born in NYC for all to enjoy

Keep in mind that the 72-story Trump Tower on the east side is "90 stories."

I don't always truck with this 'every building needs to be iconic' thing, but surely this building has to push the design barriers. Other, similar height buildings are already under construction practically across the street. Competition for this specific area of business is abnormally high.

So I think this building might be interesting in that regard. Because it has to.

And, if the developers have even an ounce of civic responsibility, they'll recognize the prominence and visibility of the location, and give us a design that lives up to it.

Scoping documents also include the actual height numbers: 225 West 57th Street‘s facade will top-out 1,479 ′ above street level, while a surprise spire on top will cap the tower at 1,775 feet. Adrian Smith and Gordon Gill are designing the building.

1,478 for the top of the roof! I like it!!

I love all of the setbacks too. It's like a modern version of a classic NY tower.

Are they serious? 1775 ft? Why not add two feet and beat 1WTC? They must be trolling.

That design is completely unexpected but I like it!
It's quite brutal and strong looking, but has sleek proportions and definitely resembles features from from the Art Deco towers! It also has a very futuristic vibe to it imo
Solid height of 450m to the roof and 541m to the spire

Although if they got rid of the rings on the cantilever bit or added them to fit the rest of the tower, then it would fit into the design perfectly! But I understand they may want to make the cantilever quite a feature!

Funkyskunk needs to his his job now!

They respected the 1,776. It's a symbolic number for a symbolic tower.

I hope that the setbacks are illuminated at night.

It reminds me also of a thinner, taller, modern Sears Tower.

P.S.: Did anyone notice that NYYimby has a forum?
