Out of place ? No offense intended but where would it not look out of place then ?

It seems to me that New York City is just about the only place on earth where such a building would not look out of place. Furthermore, if the idea is that it sticks out like a sore thumb then the way to remedy such a situation is to build more of them.

Indeed, I actually think the Burj Khalifa is a design that would suit New York, it's classy, has set backs and 'tapers' into a spire towards the top

That part of downtown has some streets as wide as my driveway. NYC is a CITY , not a desert...the base itself would take up a neighborhood.
I like tall building doh..but I also like the Manhattan street layout, which any new buildings should conform to.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking.
Actually, one of the best parts of the WTC redevelopment is the restoration of the street grid there. Superblocks are kind of terrible when you think about it. That's why Lujiazui, even though it looks nice, is a pain to walk around in.

If we see anything above 550m (sans spire), it'll definitely be very thin. I actually think the Shanghai Tower or even Chicago Spire are more apt comparisons for what you'd see here?

I don't mind the Supermodel-Scrapers we've been seeing lately; the skinnier, the better in this case.

Está respondido hace 2 o 3 páginas, el de la izquierda corresponde con el 225 West 57th Street y el de la derecha con NEW YORK | 220 Central Park South | 290m | 950ft | 66 fl | U/C

Ai yai yai this tower is becoming so sexy that visiting people will have an instant deep satisfaction just by looking at it.

Yimbys article concedes that this is based upon what he published in July, which Barnett said is not final. Yimbys article acknowledges this. Thus, we still don't know what this tower will look like.

Here's what Yimby said:

"217 West 57th Street’s design remains in flux, but using the detailed blueprints YIMBY received earlier this summer — for the tentatively 1,775 foot tower — its overall impact on the skyline can now be rendered. Though official images from Extell remain lacking...."

It's nice to finally see some consistency when it comes to what is and is not U/C. Zorg didn't want to rush moving the Dongguan ITC to U/C and then this thread was moved back to Prep since it was prematurely rushed to the U/C section.

We all know construction is imminent for both buildings but at least now we will wait for the appropriate time to move both threads. I'm sure both threads will be moved sometime in 2014.

Do we know if Otie put these renders together for Yimby? I wanted to give the proper credit, but wasn't sure.

Are they official?
Don't see 111 in them, so I assume they are?

But oh my goodness! Those renders look fantastic! Love the lines in the facade! And it has a more boxy element at the top; much like with One57s top!

It also seems that the spire will be lit at night from the bottom so that the light fades towards the top!
