Great news.

I really hope they don't make this too big though. I think something in the 1,100 to 1,250 range would work great.

Encouraging news. If this follows the construction time table of One57, Extell will plow through demolition, site prep, and start foundation as fast as possible, all while acquiring financing, hopefully again with Aabar Investments. Unfortunately they'll likely keep the rendering secret, just like One57.

Edit: 600, from the little we've heard I suspect the tallest this will be is 1250ish. It might be taller or it could 1100, it seems to depend on whether or not the tower contains a large office component which would eat up a lot of the build able square feet. If Extell goes with just a hotel/condo, this should be 1200+. I don't want to get to ahead of myself though. I'd much rather have a great design at 1050 or 1100 than something mediocre at 1250 or 1400 or whatever.

You're right. This is supposed to be the tallest building in NYC, so I expect it'll be at least 1400 feet, but probably more

A great design of 1250ft would even be better. But you are right. 1100 or 1200 ft does not really matter.
Who is going to be the architect?

Hmph, that's not very good news. His buildings tend to be ugly. Hopefully he will make a simpler design for this tower considering how tall it'll be

I hope it won't be another pixely-looking design like that proposed Leonard St. Building...

I wish we get something like Maha Nakhon in Bangkok there.

Well, I think everyone knows Kanto likes his boxes and simple design.

But I like their work. I was really into their 56 Leonard St design although many did not like it

I don't want a copy of the Leonard St. design. I'm sure they have a great building planned, though.

Unlike 0ne 57, which had no competition, 225 will be competing directly with 432 Park, Torre Verre, and 220 CPS. Of the four, Torre Verre and 225 Park have the inferior locations. Therefore, Extell needs a landmark.

I'm just curious, is Nordstrom financing part of this tower or all of it? Does Extell have a loan lined up or is in the process of getting one?

But anyhow, I'm sure this will be an architectural marvel considering the players behind it. It will be the "Rolls-Royce" of buildings.

This tower will cost well over a billion dollars. I think that Nordstrom's investment is around $220m. Extell shouldn't have a problem with financing this.
