Imagine our skyline in 4 or 5 years with Nordstrom and One Vanderbilt as the 1,500 ft kings of New York(going to roof). Will there be any challengers? Fantastic to see around the corner and envision all these soaring jewels!

I agree!

P.S.: Bonus shot -- Metropolitan Tower. I love how it looks like a 750' razor blade with no thickness/width.

I look forward to seeing more new supertalls in this stunning image.

P.S.: The hills of Westchester and Connecticut look great.

What is the point of posting the same picture in almost every NYC skyscraper thread? The informational value is close to zero.

That is a great picture! I don't think I had ever seen an image like that with such visibility from that point of view. Unless, I never noticed. lol

Eventually, that picture would definitely be more breathtaking when the other supertalls rise.

111 would be the same height as 432 Park. Actually, it would be taller because the elevation there is higher than 432. I think the Nordstrom roof would not fit in that picture. Definitely not the spire but the roof??

posting a contextual photo of Midtown and its supertalls for supertall towers rising in midtown, this shocks my conscience! copy and paste to other threads, etc... etc...
Everyone involved is complaining about nothing here. Seeing the same photo in different threads isn't annoying. Complaining about it in every thread IS and has zero informative or discussional value to the topics at hand, which ironically is one of your complaints.

Hell, what does mine have? I'm just complaining about the people complaining about complaining.

We're through the looking glass people...
exactly. Stop bitching. (directed at those whom the shoe fits, probably including me) That's all I have to ask. It's annoying.

With a new Saks, Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom on the way, Manhattan becomes a magnet for deluxe department stores

Quote:
[...]
Nordstrom plans to open a mammoth 285,000-square-foot place spanning seven floors of a new residential developing at 225 W. 57th St. on “Billionaires’ Row.”
[...]
They coincide with historically higher levels of residential building geared toward the world's wealthiest buyers, with new-development condos slated for completion in the next handful of years averaging a lot more than $16 million a pop. And specialists say the luxury-home boom will continue, with residential construction spending anticipated to rise by 60% this year — although it will make 22% additional units.
New-development marketing firm Corcoran Sunshine projects that almost 7,000 new luxury condo units, priced at $2,300 a square foot or above, will debut amongst now and 2016.
[...]
A spokesman for Nordstrom stated executives spent more than 30 years looking for the ideal place for the chain’s 1st Manhattan retailer.
“For us, expanding into Manhattan has actually been about finding the right actual estate,” he said. “The growth of the Upper West Side along with the development along 57th St. certainly influenced our decision, including the ongoing development of residential properties in the surrounding region.”

Can you imagine this scene with Nordstrom, 1 Vandy, 30 HY, Steinway, Verre, etc.?

That makes me wonder if any of the Billionaire's row towers will involve themselves in holiday lighting. Obviously they aren't going to do the nightly light show you see on the midtown office spires, but it would be nice of them to join in for the likes of Halloween, Christmas and the Fourth of July. It would be good PR for them; a way to demonstrate that they're not so stodgy and separate from the rest of the City that they won't participate in beloved civic traditions.
