It would be good PR for them; a way to demonstrate that they're not so stodgy and separate from the rest of the City that they won't participate in beloved civic traditions.
432 Park could easily do it on the "drum" transfer floors.

I don't see why Nordstroms crown/parapet and spire can't be lit up at night, it won't really effect the residents, and would definitely make a statement for the building!

The same could be said for 111 Wests crown/steps, 432s drums (aren't they being lit anyway?) and One57s 'vent' thing at the top facing CP

432's mech floors will be lit, but they will only be white. The colors can't be changed due to the type of lights they will be using.

Oh dang, I knew they would primarily be white but I didn't know they actually couldn't be changed. I assumed they were the same kind of LEDs going up all over the place with a limitless color range.

I agree that coloring Nordstrom's spire and Steinway's crown shouldn't create any issue for residents, assuming they're capable of it. Any idea whether One57's "light grille" can change color?

I'm pretty sure One57 is the same situation.

Also, the mechanical floors on 1 WTC can't change color. Only the base and spire can.

Is the reason behind that being they are supposed to be imitating office lights at night?

If that's the case it isnt exactly working. Every picture I've seen of 1WTC at night, the mechanical floors stick out like a sore thumb because they're fully lit.

Yes the mech floors lit up at night really show how the towers top 1/4 is all glass and mirrors...
We had no balls when this was designed.

The mech lights should at least be staggered.

The rules here are different. Piling or first signs of rebar means U/C

When the caissons are sunk it's U/C here. Rebar is a great clue that that has happened. Mat pours are always the clincher!

And they were right, given that Woolworth was surpassed by a very long list of towers.

It's a small, deep hole with a wall around it. We'll probably only get an update if someone can get to an elevated position around it or when it reaches above street level. Or if Extell gives us an update. THAT WOULD BE NICE, TOO, EXTELL.

A webcam would be great. I'm sure they'll install some when construction starts.

Well, just because they can't change color now doesn't necessarily mean they'll never have some kind of upgrade, like the ESB. I hope that happens. Special lightings are one of my favorite parts of tall buildings and New York. I hope that at least Nordstrom's spire can at least change color. Will Tower Verre's "veins" be lit in different colors?
