Where have you been for the last 4-5 years There's been dozens of videos of people going up the spire. Hell, they even let base jumpers up there a few years back.

Have you heard anything about the design?

No, but i'm guessing it will be just about the same. I would go by what the CTBUH included in their NY Conference list, since in all likelihood they've already seen what it will look like. It matches up pretty well with what YIMBY provided. That still doesn't show the cladding, just an approximate massing.
You can see the cantilever just above the crane's boom.

They didn't specify the roof height, but the spire height was listed as 1776 ft.

http://www.ctbuh2015.com/other-info/conference-skyline/

edit: here's a better link with a clearer drawing, and the height listed as 1775 ft. Again, it is safe to assume that they've already seen the tower's design. Though I guess that doesn't mean that the design will be final.

I don't know much about CTBUH, but it seems from their website that for Nirdstrom, at least , their info comes from Yimby -- not Extell .

I went to the site yesterday and tried to get some images of the site. There is a small gap between a wall and the construction barrier that allows a partial view of the site. I then happened to lean against a door to see through a crack and it opened up to several construction workers WHO LET ME IN TO VIEW THE SITE!!!!

Great photos, and what nice dudes! I had a similar experience around this time last year when I met a security guard at the site. Didn't get let in (there wouldn't have been much to see at that point anyway) but he was super friendly and happy to talk about it at length with me. Just goes to show it never hurts to speak up; most of these guys are as excited about the projects as we are.

These are career making buildings for construction workers. Of course they're enthusiastic!

Wow, amazing job towerpower!! It's really fun to see this stage of foundation work where they're literally rooting the tower into the earth.

I'm a little confused by the concrete wall amidst the digging in the second photo.

On another note, go Lee's Art Shop!

I love skyscrapers. With that said, here's a Bill Moyers piece about the buildings going up on Billionaires' Row.

(p.s. - I'm posting this on the threads of the Billionaires' Row buildings because it makes perfect sense to do that.)

They are forgetting the millions of tourists (like me) that are coming to wonder these new supertall buildings to New York and bring their money with them... Who would otherwise just go to Dubai or Shanghai or other places that are home to these new wonders of the world and forget about New York and its former wonders of a bygone era... But with these new supertall buildings together with all the famous old icons... It's a tourist magnet above all others !

Dubai and China have set the benchmark for the worlds best skyscrapers. The grandeur of tall buildings always attracts world attention since chrsyler and empire states all those years ago. Soon we will be saying how average they both look in size as the world is now are in the race for supertalls the kudos of the old is gone. We want to see tall buildings that are architectural marvels that stand out nit just look lije others thats why china and dubai are tge champions of skyscrapers construction .
