It would be great if the spire could reach 1800 something. Nice to hear about the roof height this will be a serious monster.

I just spoke with some senior guys at the site who confirmed that the renderings first shown by our man Yimby is "pretty much" the final design, though there are still some ongoing tweeks, including roof height. The spire height of 1,775' will not change though.

I'm assuming 1550' is to the top of the parapet because that would be a really short Spire if not.

Either way great news.

I asked about the 1,490 and 1,550 issue. They replied that that number is not yet final but that the 1775 spire peak is.

I believe the floor count was 93 when the building was listed at 1490' and is now 94, so perhaps it will be between those two heights unless the DOB is referring to the top floor

1775 is just 1 ft short of the symbolic 1776 off course. I just hope it won't become a future cap for the building height.

I suppose the building can temporarily surpass 1776' on hot summer days, when the tower expands with the heat

Despite being a foot lower, it sits on ground about 70ft higher in elevation than 1WTC, so it will look taller on the skyline.

It will have the tallest roof in America, so it would clearly tower over 1 WTC if they were placed side by side. However, since they'll be 4 miles apart, no one can
Perceive an extra 100' to 150'.

But it can be compared to 432PA from 1WTC's POV.

It will be a good supertall companion for 432, but a little taller (100-150 feet) and the spire will be more legit than say 1WTC so that should add to the impact. It will make One57 look like a midrise though.

I sure hope so! a 1600 ft roof height sounds like a dream to me! I hope that can be a reality.

Glad to hear what had been revealed by Yimby is what we can expect. 1490' or 1550' to the roof I'd be fine with either way. Obviously taller would be better.

Now that this year is ending, hopefully Extell officially reveals this tower in great detail sometime in the 1st Q.

I'm glad about the cantilever preventing it from looking too thin like certain other towers.

That will mean this is the highest elevation reached with a building MSL

Wow looks like they excavated about 60 feet below grade. Are they going to use that space for parking? Storage? HVAC/MEP? I see this article says Nordstrom itself will use two below grade levels.

http://www.law360.com/articles/55577...t-apt-building

It's also interesting how they don't include One57 when mentioning the "latest crop of superscrapers", guess it's a midrise by comparison
