Appears as Extell's going for the full 1,550 ft as originally proposed as a maximum! So they don't count the spire which is supposed to go up to 1,775 ft symbolically?

Who knows ? Some suggest that for certain applications, old building height numbers can be used.

Well, let's hope the old adage is true that "good things come to those who wait" because Extell definitely has tried our patience with this massive project, lol!

I think it's basically what Yomby revealed last summer though a little taller. That sounds great to me.

I agree... I loved the design in the YIMBY reveal and if indeed it's basically the same, just a little taller, a 1,550 elegant, classy new city jewel definitely is great news... with the frosting of having those spires on top to effectively take it to 1,775ft!

I agree if the design remains unchanged from Yimby's, i'll be a happy camper.

Re: Height. I would be ecstatic for 1550' and as Lex suggested with his convo with the people involved, 1550' could very well be something Extell is thinking seriously about it.

As of now though based on the latest filing with the DOB under new building application, 1490' is the latest figure.

What other cities have 3+ clusters of two or more supertalls? None that I can think of, and NYC may be the first.

1550 includes mechanical floors? If this was 1600 feet to the roof I would be very happy!

Dubai?

And with Shanghai, there's a cluster of 3 supertalls, and there's also the Oriental Pearl Tower nearby.

That's a cluster of 3 supertalls. He means 3 clusters of supertalls.

Oh, misread. Sorry. Maybe Dubai or Shenzhen will get it before NYC though... But NYC is still #1.

They recently changed it to 1550' and 94 floors on the most recent DOB filing, there was talk about this a week ago or so but I'm too lazy to go back and find the link but will do so later.

I'm not sure if 1550' refers to the parapet or roof though, probably the first but still very tall nonetheless. The building should have a similar impact as the Shanghai Financial Center or ICC in Hong Kong but a few feet shorter and probably quite a bit skinnier, and the spire looks nicer than the one on the WTC too (at least during the day)

Walking along the 57th street canyon in 2020 =
I really hope the roof/parapet reaches 1,550', that would be epic!

No big deal. Taller towers will come in the future.
