Concrete support walls are almost done except half of North side wall.

More construction updates coming, you can check them all on my Flickr page: https://www.flickr.com/photos/[email protected]/sets/
it is a core. another month and we will see it way more defined. I am planing to visit the site in the next week or so and hopefully there is going to be something new.

Now that's a beautiful tower and it is my second favorite after 1WTC but I do believe NYC deserves its own 600m+ ... It is a matter of time, hopefully what is coming after this one is a megatall.

The pace will pick up when foundations are done.

Click for larger selection of images.

All taken by me this morning, very hard to get a photo of what appears to be the core being dug. (dirty windows thanks to the art shop)

Is it just me, or is that orange excavator dangling precariously off the top of the pit?

It's been that way for a long time now. Looks like they built a little ledge for it to sit on. Pretty sketchy for sure

This is a very conservative design, but it's a glassy prism and I'm sure I'll like it better than 432 Park Ave.

Interestingly, it seems to be keeping pace with the supertall here in Philly that is under construction: the Comcast ITC building. Site clearance, excavation, etc. are going on at a similar schedule.

It's been a bizarre winter. You have had more frost and snow in there than here in southern Finland and most other northern countries I think.

It doesn't really seems to have a defined "core", more like some load-bearing walls and some supercolums evenly spread over the whole building.
Intresting. Reminds a bit of Steinway Tower, but to me the placement of the structural elements looks a bit more randomly here.

It is interesting that more narrow towers are built in the post-modern age as a result of changing technology and building codes. This kind of pencil towers reminds me of the fate of Gillender Building.

The dimensions of the lower portion of the Tower

The dimensions of the main portion of the Tower, with the cantilever will be 100'11'' x 87'3'' (30.8m x 26.6m) very similar to the dimensions of 432 Park.

We can already see some structural elements. The huge load-bearing wall on the eastern side (marked with the letter "A") seems already there, it is the retaing wall against the Arts Students League building, that will go up to the cantilever. You can also see the column "B" and the load bearing walls "C" and "D" with the elevator shaft on the intersection of those walls.

That is right my godfather's last name was originally Nordström. Meaning north stream / river.
