Gary is trying to confuse us. It would be cool if it's just cause they forgot a 1.

Be very careful when giving those news, they could cause an epidemic of hearth atacks on this forum

While it's probably wrong it does make me nervous. Why would they cut the height so much at the last minute? Plus 800 feet would likely be way too low for 88 luxury floors.

I wish DOB's made sense.

I doubt its got a bright cut to something under half the intended height.... but if I hear officially hear it has I will probably have a heart attack....

Especially having wait like what, 3 years for a design?

Mr Barnet, don't ruin my health please

Wouldn't it be fun if the mistake they made on the 800' figure was to be missing a 1 from in front of it? A little over 1800ft. wouldn't be bad.

Ha I wish, but if it's on the DOB it would be 1800 roof height which we know isn't going to happen...

You really do wonder where that insanely inaccurate number came from though.

I hope so since this building has been so marketed as 1775 feet tall

These guys understand the importance of marketing themselves as the tallest residential building in the western hemisphere, and cresting that 1775 figure is vital to that marketing, I don't think we'll see a height cut, these guys want to rule NYC's residential market for the foreseeable future with this puppy.

Good thing we don't care. If you're going to criticize, at least critique. This is a fine building, and the cantilever makes it extra interesting

But why can he not express his opinion? A thread is there for all opinions, not just positive ones. I absolutely love this building and think it is the most beautiful building ever built or proposed for NYC, the second most beautiful in the world, however I do think everybody has a right to express his opinion

I agree wit you kanto, As long as he stays on subject, not use abusive or foul language, threaten someone, or harass some one, he should be able to say how he feels within the guidelines.

Now on the subject, this tower is surely a one of a kind in a good way....

The problem is not that he doesn't like the design. The problem is that his post has no value whatsoever since he doesn't even elaborate why he's not a fan of the design. This is not the YouTube comment section but an architecture forum. I think this is what royal rose 1 was trying to get at.

Thank you, precisely the point I'm making. If you are going to say you don't like a building, and that's it, you're trolling and not contributing to productive conversation. Tell me "oh the design is far too conventional," or something to make me gain an idea of why you don't like it. If I simply express my disdain for things without explaining my reasoning, what am I doing except being a downer?

On a similar note though, I'm not the biggest fan of this building either. I think SHoP did a much better job. But I am a fan of the height, and I think 432 Park shows that simplicity works in New York.

In other words, if somebody doesn't like the building he must adhere to a strict code to voice his opinion, he isn't allowed to voice it freely. I absolutely love this building but forbidding people to dislike it is simply dictatorial

Nope, that's not what I'm saying at all, again you misunderstand me. I'm simply saying you're trolling if you just say you dislike something without reason. I think that's common sense that you don't just say "I dont like this" without some sort of reason. As I said, I don't even like this building that much, simply because it's overly basic, but at least I say that, and don't just say "this building sucks."

I'm not saying you have to say why you don't like something, but you help no one and are a conversation ender, not a conversation starter, when you simply say you don't like something.

Please don't call us dictatorial! Thank you, much appreciated!

In all seriousness: He can dislike, hate, despise, etc. this or any other building as much as he wants. And since we live in a free country, he can go outside and yell and scream about it without having to fear any consequences. But this is an architecture forum and forums operate based on certain rules. If someone came here and started talking about his/her cat and I commented on that, would you tell me I'm dictatorial then as well. What he wrote was simply not a contribution to a serious conversation and that's all. End of story!

Now, please back on topic...
