But in all those towers were the headquarters of the companies that bear their names. Here, only would be a Nordstrom store, one of many there are in all the United States. Above that a luxury residential tower with no relation to that store whatsoever.

So this is going to utterly dwarf one 57? Might be able to pick up apartment there now, its value must have diminished a bit

you would think that...

actually having great new buildings in the area, will increase the value.

Is like having a boring house on a boring street, but if somehow you end up with beautiful new villas around, your house value will go up.

Barnett took a big loss here, 220 CPS will ruin completely the views of many units of this tower.

You apparently missed the whole cantilever story. No it won't ruin the views completely

Yes, it will, we are talking here about lower/middle floor units with asking prices in 20~50M range, no matter the cantilever, at this price point completely unobstructed views are mandatory.

A tower with the proportions of 220CPS just a few meters of this one, been build before this, lol, I can't see anyone buying here with many other options.

220 CPS will not obstruct the Central park views of Central Park Tower. I should specify, aside from a small corner near Columbus Circle.

Barnett sold a small parcel within the building plot of 220 CPS and the lease of a parking garage to Vornado for $194 million. As part of the agreement, the tall tower portion of 220 CPS was shifted to the west, and to the 58th Street side of the block. When added to the 30-foot cantilever over the American Fine Arts Building (aka the Art Students League) negotiated by Extell, this means that Central park Tower will have excellent views of the park. And of a limestone-cladded building that will house some of the priciest apartments in the world, including possibly a $250 million penthouse.

Story about the deal I mentioned above:

This render must be some kind of joke, lol, the towers were shifted but nothing near like it shows.

The view in this case is not all about just CP views, is about the sense that you have with full unobstructed views in other developments, for a 40M buyer it make a whole diference, especially when they can choose between 220CPS, 111W47 and in near future 1 Park Lane.

I know the garage deal very well, was a smart move until he settled for 200M.

You could better hope that the engineers are doing their job right. These towers are safe, but its up to them to be sure of that.
