Most of those massing diagrams don't add spares do they?

I think they're more to show the main mass of the building...

I think the spire and it's positioning not being central really adds to the design!

And to say we haven't seen the final design... I have a feeling it won't be much different?

As far as the possibility of the tower losing its spire, I actually hope it's true, I would take a solid 1550 footer over and 1520 footer with a toothpick on top pretending to be 1800 feet.
Not really a toothpick though, it was a pretty beefy and cool looking spire. But yes I agree that 1550 would be nice, is that the limit for the highest occupied floor or roof?

Wait, so this tower is no longer 541 meters - 1775 ft?

And it's probable that it will be redesigned?

Stop being a ball buster Barnett and release the final design!

I don't care much about the spire height, but I think the Foster design needs the spire because of the design of the top.
The Richard Rogers spire is just an ugly antenna (including dishes). That tower design would be better without spire.

I don't like Foster's design at all. I just hate how it looks really big but then has that tiny piece at the top. Roger's looks a bit better just the spire looks kinda funny.

I feel that plans and diagrams will be changed again and again. We have not seen the last of it yet

But isn't the core above street level? At this point, wouldn't any changes in design (besides removing the spire) be very tedious to make? Technically, if it could happen at 2 World Trade Center, it could happen here, but it's still unlikely. Unless the Foster and Rogers design are still on the table (which I hope isn't the case.)

I so hope they build it with the spire if they stick with the current design...
However the proposals by Rogers and Foster don't look bad so if it was for a complete change, I wouldn't exactly mind

Fosters design is too plain and looks too much like Willis Tower.

Rogers design is butt ugly.

AS+GGs was the best but I still think it looks mediocre. Hopefully the final design will be better.

Oh, for heaven's sake, Extell is now my least favorite developer with all the dithering and secrecy with this project. The one we've been seeing for months now was near perfect... soaring, lean but substantial enough, elegant, classy... maybe not jaw droppingly original but it does us proud for tallest residential tower in the Western Hemisphere, if not the world. Now it may take an additional few months to complete and open.. well not if you stopped playing Hamlet, Gary Barnett... you want to make the signature tower for Central Park, get to it and own it already!

Foster's was better than Roger's design by far, and it still didn't do anything for me. Both deserved to have lost.. but like I said Extell's lack of either conviction on what it wants or more of an addiction to secrecy among everything really is souring me on them right now. I don't want to see them lose the spire even if it does go 1,550 ft to the roof. Only if there is an element in the redesign that eliminates the even symbolic purpose of the spire, would I be comfortable with having no spire.

that is exactly my argument... 2WTC and its history tell me that we live in the times that anything is possible - even worse scenario than an original plan.

If these gorgeous renders that dreamax00 dug up really do show the final Burj 2020 design, then AS+GG may have an ace up their sleeves for this tower, too.

(from the original post; I could not find a smaller render)

The smaller of those two towers shows uncanny resemblance to that shiny object in Barnett's office in the PBS doc.

But that's probably just wishful thinking..

Would be cool if that's model of the PBS documentary is the final design.

Few weeks ago, there was this "mysterious" rendering for 220 Central Park South:

Source

I am not assuming that the building in the background will be the new design of Central Park Tower, the positioning of the tower and the fact that this rendering was made for another building speak also against it. But maybe the development team of 220 Central Park South knew that Central Park Tower was not the final design.

in case that mr adran smith who does the conception on that tower i am sur that it goes even higher and i think it will be in towards 1800ft
