No its not. 432 Park Avenue is simply amazing and amazingly simple. That is were its beauty is. Central Park Tower is just a tall glass box with a not-so-original name.

432 Park is a really catchy name, I must admit

This what we do best in NY City, maximize the owner's rights. Unlike my other crying criticism for the Penn Yards development, this one works as it does not take away from the street level activity, just goes UP. And there are no more sites around this one to block the sun in addition.

The massive new Nordstroms will eventually attract many more people.

I agree. Between the towers lining Central Park and the Hudson Yards all which will be missing from such a futuristic vista will be flying cars... or will they be?

From yesterday. Few more weeks and it will be street level.

Looking south.

Looking north.

Core is raising.

Core is becoming more visible now.

It seems that the core of this building is not rising in the center, but rather the east side. Is this because of the cantilever? Eventually won't the core have to shift back over to the center as the structure grows?

Not necessarily, the Shard in London has its core to one side.

YIMBY, a few weeks back. http://newyorkyimby.com/2015/09/nord...feet-tall.html

Quote:
Two separate project insiders contacted by YIMBY confirmed that the most recent construction documents left out any indications of a spire, and also sent along the latest schematics, allowing us to create updated renderings of the building. In the realm of absolute English relativity, this does validate the PR team’s claim that the renderings released so far are not final, in that the version presented by Extell earlier this year was not yet value-engineered. Besides discarding the spire, changes appear to have been minimal, although the parapet height has seen a boost to 1,550 feet, and the floor count has increased to 99.

The core will be in the center when it reaches the level of the cantilever. I know... it seems odd.
