I'm afriad to tell you this but, the Nordstrom tower, by increasing its roof height, soon after the spire was removed from the building, it still could be the tallest building by roof height in the Western Hemisphere.

Pathetic propaganda!..Your Walpole is a nasty tumor and a jerk.
The only contributor who is missing is Vertical Gotham
"He's the eyes and ears of NYC."(!!)..lol!!that guy should be awarded with the Pulitzer just because he gives some miserable tips in your very confidential forum!?
This goes to show that ridicule really never killed anyone!...
However, and about you dear Chris,i always read your post with pleasure and interest:you have spirit and elegance when Walpole is vulgar, arrogant and sectarian.
No need to praise someone really insignificant!

Oh you mean Rob, who compares those of SSC and SSP to pedophiles?

http://www.yimbyforums.com/t/new-yor...-floors/260/56

"SSC + SSP = NAMBLA"

Gee, I wonder why he gets banned everywhere.

Don't even post his photos here. We have plenty of great NY based photographers who post here.

This tower will be the new king of NYC height-wise, so I thought I'd share this amazing photo of the ESB when it was the undisputed king of the city:

Yeah, I am having trouble with that as well. It is somewhat confusing to see what they are working on right now. If the core is what we are seeing above ground, then it doesn't seem square or located in the center of the site. Perhaps that is because of the cantilever.

Because of 220 Central Park South the Central Park Tower is located as far to the east as possible. To maximize views to central park, and to have bigger floorplans, a cantilever is added to the design:

The structural system is different from 432 Parc Avenue, and has an #-shaped system of walls, instead of just a square core. (Cental Park views/ north is up):

On upper level with cantilevers the structure will look like this (Central Park views/ north is up):

In the following picture we are at 57th street looking north. The big walls, and the core hidden inside, is the huge concrete structure you can see above ground. The cantilever will be "floating" above the old scafolded building to the right (Art Students League of New York):

Yes, thanks that was helpful.
Hopefully we will see the whole building above ground before the end of the year.

How thick are the core walls? My guess is about 4 feet.
