I"d like to see a little flair and not just a glass box. Given that it will be residences I suspect it will be more than a glass box.

Hopefully they start soon. I want continious super tall construction in NY

I expect this to be better than Willis or Columbia.

I'd die if they built anything like the sears in this city.

I prefer something more modern as well.

Yes, sears is a great tower. But this tower should be modern, elegant and very tall without a spire

Sears has had its day. It's time to go forward.

Besides, how New Yorkish is it for New Yorkers to be pining for a building in Chicago ?

From StatenIslander237 on SSP, posted yesterday:

"Heads up! The new Morton Williams further down on 57th is open, which means the old location on this site has closed, which means demolition can now commence! "

That's old news. Presumably, they're doing asbestos removal in the market before it comes down.

I don't care if they put a spire on it. I just want the building to look good.

I think a Columbia Center would do just as well too, maybe slightly better.

It's quite sure this tower will be over 400m tall. So 400m+ in the title is a good thing

It very likely will be. However, it's possible that Extell will strike a deal with a hedge fund or some very-high paying boutique office client and will devote 300k-400k sf of office space to the site, in which case it might be 300-325m. I doubt that will happen though. 400m+ is likely.

As long as there is absolutely no certainty about the height, there is little reason to change the topic title imo.
I hope we'll get a render soon. That would end all guessing (and satisfy my curiosity.)

It was reported a few months ago that Extell had a competition and selected Herzog & de Meuron. Shortly thereafter, the torqued proposal by ShOP (which was rejected) was released.
