The tower is starting to be noticeable, if you squint real hard you can also see 520 Park Ave on the other side of the park.
Now we're just waiting on on TV and Steinway to make their presence felt.

Can we just take a minute to appreciate that this is what the site looked like a year ago, and now they're already a couple hundred feet up.

This building is starting to make some serious progress. They have started doing work for the cantilever.

Took pictures yesterday but can't post them due to Flickr problems. If someone wants to message me their e-mail maybe I can e-mail them and they can be posted (have 220 South pics and the one by MOMA too)

Thanks for sharing! Great pictures! It is almost scary how far the cantilever extends. I'm curious to see what they will put in place to support it, other then what is already visible.

I was wondering if that isn't actually the cantalever yet but rather a platform to allow construction above while protecting the building below. Seems more like that, but I'm not sure.

To be completely honest I am very confused with the core. I don't know what is to support what and how the fašade is going to be applied.

Anyone else?

I think so too.

The cantilever will eventually be supported by the core.

what we are seeing there is probably a platform to support the formwork for the cantilever. Once they have built a few floors of it, it will become self-supporting.

Or is the cantilever constructed of steel framing?

That will no longer be a super tall.

Now called the spiral, by no other than BIG.

Even more deflating than the fact their design for WTC2 still appears to be what will be built once Silverstein gets a sizable tenant commitment.

This should have at least been a 1,500 footer.... the spirals just look like another cutesy "BIG" gimmick. Though "Hudson Spire" was a marketing promotion, I'm really surprised and disappointed that Tishman-Speyer, who lost the rights to Hudson Yards to Related after the financial crisis, did not go with a design that had enough height to make it the centerpiece rather than just a fitting in with the other 1,000ish foot towers there. What a waste of opportunity...when time came to REALLY go "BIG" they dropped the ball.

And though Central Park Tower will still be 1,550ft to the roof, still wish it got a spire or crown to take it to 1,775ft..heck, go to 1,800ft already!

I can say I'm almost without hope to see a 600m tall tower in New York in the next decade. At least a proposal.. that we can say it has been cancelled xD like Chicago Spire or Post office development..
