This issue is supremely important because it has confused so many and so much. The gimmicky must be tackled here WHILE WE ARE DISCUSSING THE NOSTRUM BUILDING, realizing others have already stolen its well deserved title of the second tallest skyscraper in the world by using gimmicks--tall broomsticks stuck at the top.
Here is the definitive statement by an internationally recognized non-profit:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Counci..._Urban_Habitat

This should put to rest all arguments here. This group is the generally recognized authority for all rankings of skyscrapers world-wide.

THEY MAINTAIN SEPARATE RANKINGS FOR DIFFERENT CATEGORIES.

That is the closest thing to a global official statement that you can get.

Just click the link and read around. Nobody here is going to be changing anybody else's mind, so just listen to what the recognized officials say.

Now lets get back to talking about important things, like the progress of construction and the impact on the neighborhood.

The spire is gone so we need to update the thread for height? I do agree with other sentiments... this tower does look... strong, even without the spire.

Anyway, I do hope they have plans to light up those three bands on the side of the building. I'm a huge fan of architectural lighting. No night renders to satisfy that hunger haha.

I think having an "official render" really brings to light how top notch the cladding and glass is. IMO the parapet looks gorgeous.

Feels like we should change the title thread height to 1,550. The spire looks dead.

I hope this is the final look. They've done something to it that has made it very pleasing to the eye.

Agreed! That would make a great match for the mechanical floor lighting on 432 Park.

Dude, you need to do some research -- perhaps by going back through and reading this very thread -- before going on these rants.

There are not going to be 131 "veritable standard floors" in this tower. There will be 95. Here's a New York City Department of Buildings Filing to that effect. 131 is a marketing number, a well-established practice throughout the skyscraper world (one you might even consider a cheat!)

Anyway, however you're counting or whatever definition you're using, there's no universe in which this tower could ever be considered the second-tallest in the world.

And then if you look to the Brooklyn and Jersey sides near Lower Manhattan there are two big towers.. the brownish Brooklyn one I'm assuming its the Millennium tower right? But what's the Jersey blue one at the right of the Goldman Sachs tower?

Can someone school me about those please?

ps-ohh and the grayish one between Vanderbilt and the ESB?

360 Tenth Avenue, 45 Broad Street, 9 DeKalb, either 99 Hudson or 50 Hudson Street. CityRealty NYC made these so they may not be accurate.

Renderings of the interior
6sft

Lobby

... The materials also reveal that the tower is being marketed with a height of 133 floors (the actual count is just 95, though some units like the 17,000-square-foot three-story penthouse have ceilings that stretch well beyond the standard) and 179 luxury residential units.

Thank you for that!

360 Tenth Avenue.. seemed taller. It catches another building on the Jersey side which seems like the top of the tower I was referring to in the HY hood xD.

45 Broad Street seems overrendered xD.. research tells me it's less then 350m and in the render it really seems like it's almost 400m.

9 DeKalb I love these early designs for that new tower in Brooklyn.

The Jersey one.. I would say 99 Hudson. The location seems accurate.

And just one more.. the grayish one between Vanderbilt and the ESB? Could it be the 335 Madison avenue proposal?

I believe that's supposed to be 666 5th Ave, a residential tower designed by the late Zaha Hadid. Very speculative at this point, but from what we know, it could easily be in the 1400 ft. range.

Yes finally a tower with more than a 100 (marketed) stories being built in NYC! Still, is the ESB the only skyscraper that has more than a 100 ACTUAL floors in NYC? Also, the renders make this tower look so much better than I thought it was going to be without the spire!

The most recent DOB filings show a real floor count of 99. The marketing floor count is now 131. That's a huge difference (even with super high ceilings). Maybe the actual floor changed too, one can only hope.
