I couldn't tell that these were two separate buildings.

The curvy-top building I was referring to is just to the right of CitySpire Center and soars way up over the Hudson and into the sky.

One of the best structures I've seen in the city, I'm amazed.

Just right of CitySpire you must be referring to One57 (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=776476)

I'm pretty sure Adrian Smith had nothing to do with loosing the spire, this design is probably the 50th value engineered version and the needle on the top was also ditched by the developer trying to save a dime.
It's a tall tower but I think it'll have a very tough time competing with the other luxury spires around that were not value engineered to oblivion and still have some cool architectural features other than height, weird massing and blue office-ish looking curtain wall.
We'll see if anything changes when more official renderings come out, but agreed, the spire could - sort of - save this design.

Careful.. statements like that can have a dark impact on this forum. When you say tallest, I advise you to specify the category (roof, architectural bla bla..and so on and so forth) if you want to avoid outcries.

If you don't trust me.. check wilshire grand los angeles building thread, on pretty much every other page ()

You have been warned!

The cantilever was scheduled to take this long so it's no surprise . Have no fear.

Well, once you get that it wasn't serious it doesn't matter if he said roof height or otherwise.
It probably won't take 18 years to build this tower.

I am genuinely curious as to why you chose to base your avatar image on a 10+ year old set of memes.

That seems more realistic. I'm sure this won't even top out till mid '18. 70 some floors left, a floor a week, longer for the mech levels...

And every month that passes without news of a construction loan secured isn't helpful.

Thomas Koloski on Yimby delivered another really nice rendering of NY's Billionaire Row (57th St). Everything here is U/C and it's also missing a few that are U/C right now
