I think their jobs are safe for now as the age of Ramses has seemed to shot its proverbial load on billionaire’s row.

I'm a bit dissapointed by the paucity of actual pictures on this and other threads. Yesterday I went down to midtown to check out the progress and took a bunch of pictures.

If there is anyone who would want to volunteer to post pictures I could e-mail the pics and you could post them. It would be a couple dozen of the various super talls under construction around midtown. You could DM me with an e-mail.

Also, I could send pictures periodically. I try to go to midtown at least every couple of weeks.

Just a general comment, in pictures these buildings don't look that impressive. But in person they are already quite large. The built up nature of New York really distorts things.

Also, one side effect of all these supertalls is they are making our previous skyscrapers look small. For example, yesterday I saw the old AT&T building on Madison Ave, the one with the notched roof. I think they might call it the Sony building now. I remember when it was built and it was at that time quite tall and a big addition to the skyline. Now you look at it and think "why did they make it so small".

Now its kind of hard to tell, but is that protective film over the glass? If so, it would look like it's over the aluminum paneling as well, or I would hope it is. the bright blue aluminum doesn't strike me as aesthetically pleasing...

Yes. In person it's pretty obvious that it's a protective film, but hard to tell in photos.

How much more would it cost to have a glass curtain wall with no mullions? The mullions ruin it for me. I want to see a seamless glass facade.

^The city doesn´t need more of those flat glass facades. Thanks to the mullions this one will have a nice character to it.

About the cantivelar. People were complaining about the blank wall that sits underneat the cantivelar. I think that wall will only enhance the visual impact of the cantivelar.

I think it should have flat blue glass with no mullions.

Yeah, and anyone know how much more costly that would be?

A seamless glass facade is nicer.
