What goes up must come down. Such a growth of NY is overwhelming and scary for me, what if after all of this we won't see any good projects for decades to come .

That's what they thought in the 1920s... and the early 70s, and the mid 80s, and the late 90s, and in 2008. The economy goes up and down. The big falls are the ones that stop the big buildings... things like the great depression, the oil embargo, the 1987 stock market crash, September 11, the 2008 financial crisis. People didn't see those things coming (well, some people saw some of them coming). Some people see the current market as over hyped. The Dow is over 25,000, Bitcoin is crazy, real estate is overpriced again just like in 2008, etc. Those things will be adjusted and the speculators will become bearish. - Sad! but true.

Your point about corporations and the .1% consolidating all the wealth is well taken. But I don't think they'll spend it all on skyscrapers.

Central Park by Angelique B, on Flickr

I like it big. It's an older photo dated Dec. 15 but good view.

A lot of snow.

Jewel of the crown has to be Park Lane location.

Something around 1800-2000ft sounds about right.

there have been proposals for the redevelopment of the Park Lane between 800' and 1210'. 1600' might not be a stretch if whomever buys the hotel wants to go higher than Extell, but that's a steep price to pay seeing as Central Park Tower cost a whopping 4 billion dollars. CPT might cost more for the cantilever, but the construction costs would still be enormous.

4 billion is the projected sell-out for CPT, not the site acquisition/construction cost.

Awesome picture!

I remember (15 years ago or so) when the red brick building with the white crown to the left was built the penthouse sold for $40 million. Now that view is partially blocked. Ouch!

Wonderful shot. Hudson Yards looks great.

The city will have drastically changed this time next year!

I never seen a skyscraper go up with this blue protective film on the curtain wall for months on end.

Anyone have an idea when we can see the cladding in its final state?

432 Park Avenue had the blue film for sometime as well and I think they waited till it was basically complete to remove all of it.

Oh, right. Good point.

Hopefully they'll remove it sooner here. That blue hue certainly won't help sell those top dollar condos.

This would make more sense, ones the building is finished it has superclean windows right from the start.

Unlike 1 WTC, which is still uncleaned. Good job PA and Durst.

I think they've started to clean the windows, since 1 WTC appears to have nostrils on each side where they removed windows to install a temporary window washers. Seems like they got sued by Vogue magazine for dirty windows. I mean hey it only took them 3, no 4 years to start cleaning, what an achievement.

https://nypost.com/2017/05/23/conde-...d-wtc-windows/

Anyways back on topic, I'm also really excited to see the protective film removed on the Nordstrom Store windows, although that sadly won't happen soon. But good to see this project progress so smoothly in the past year.
