But this is all speculation at this point, so let's just wait till we have some more official info on this subject.

And btw I'm glad New York is not Shenzen or Tianjin. Because here we built when there's actually a demand. No demand - no (residential) tower. No other city in the world is boosting so many supertall residential skyscrapers right now. And those towers are located in an already super dense area and not some huge plaza where you need a cab to get to the closest skyscraper. Even in superdense Hong Kong towers like the ICC are being built on huge plots.

Without a doubt this will be an outstanding feat. Constructing a ~500m tall superskyscraper to adjacent buildings... well you could say they nearly touch each other! Same goes with 432 PA, another 400m+ supertall.

All in all, this is the way skyscrapers are supposed to be built. New York builds this way. And it's the right way.
There is no demand for those towers in Shenzhen?

Ping -An is named after its occupant, so there is demand, I'd say.

The occupant is the developer. But this is completely unrelated to the project here.

I must say my pessimism is ebbing, it does look like NYC is coming back into the supertall stakes. Now let's hope the economy continues to improve, and the rest of the country follows.

So I just hope 1600ft is possible. Well ofcourse it's possible but I mean I hope it will be 1600ft by roof height. Since that's 50ft taller than the floor.

New York... short? The ICC stands out in Kowloon as well, as it would in any other place including the other side of Victoria Harbor or even Dubai.

I suppose he's talking about the tallest towers in NYC compared to the latest boom cities in China/ME.

The I.CC. is a lame box. It adds nothing to Kowloon's skyline other than its height.

I find it to be a pleasing box. it doesn't try too hard and it compliments 2IFC on the other side of Victoria Bay really well. That's just me of course.

This looks incredible, ICC is the second most beautiful building in the world and it would be incredible if 225 West would be similar to it

For those who rant about 432 being a lame box and I.C.C. being magnificent, I note an inconsistency.

The ICC is a box, but its sides taper and curve at the top and bottom of the building. Also, it's more of a blue color whereas 432 is moreover silver. Also, 432 Park is extremely skyinny, and by square footage it will be in the neighborhood of 17-20% of the ICC's. That's probably the main difference. I quite like the ICC, but 432 Park just doesn't do it for me.
