I think it is about right, at 1550 ft it would have 100 feet more than the ESB antenna (an it will be in a ground about ten meters more elevated, so add another 30 feet) The picture is taken at about the same height of the spire of the roof of the ESB and from a far point of view, so the effect of perspective dininishes. Also it is hard to tell, in that forest of buildings, where the bottom of ONE 57 is.

That why I said it looked bad. But I did try to make it as accurate as possible, just look at the mid mech floors, in real they are at 300m so the same height as One57.

I was in the city back in September and all I can say is wow! This would be incredible. Why should they have all the fun in the Middle East and Asia?

Here in Nashville they tried a 1057 foot tower and it got cancelled after 5 years of planning. I hope you guys are not as disappointed as we were. When stuff takes this long, sometimes they fall through. Good Luck!

The Willis Tower. I hope that something similar in design will rise here. Also, the setbacks of a Willis Tower type building would be perfect teraces for the residents if a similar design would be chosen

Is this project something real? Or is it just speculation, just asking, I haven't heard of this project in the news or anything, something as massive as this shold be more "popular" here in the city

No it's just a pipe dream from some phony developer called Gary Barnett.

I don't watch the news anymore but the only time a tower was mentioned was 15 Penn's proximity to ESB. No mention of 432 or one 57(until sandy). Chances people won't know about this monster til it's breaking through the skyline.

Exactly where did the height number "1550" come from?? Any news links or articles? Is "1550 ft" close to roof height or will it have a spire that's 500ft, lol? ..or is this thread just made up or fake?

1550 feet to the highest floor, the actual roof/crown of the building probably somewhere around 1650 feet. This is a real proposal and will start construction within the next year or so.

It is the height of the top floor and it came from the official permit documents that the developer sent to the city (they are called permit documents aren't they, but no matter the exact name of the documents it is as official as it only can be).

I'm very excited about this building. Hopefully this is an iconic design. This, combined with the possibility of something even taller at Grand Central, should be the "new" ESB and Chrysler in Midtown.

A very good point. I have never thought about these two in that way before. I hope that this one will have a bold design, with a subtle key element, and the GC tower should have a more avantgarde design, without overshadowing the Chrysler.

The Fifty-seventh Street area is already amazing, and it will be even more so when the three new towers are added (432 Park Avenue at 1,398 feet, 225 W 57th Street at 1,550 feet+, and 107 W 57th at 697 feet on a 43-foot-wide plot).

Here are two screencaps from that video (think it was posted in the WTC 1 thread):

First, a view along 57th from the west:

Then a view from the Park:
