The article is in German, he wrote:

Somit wäre der Wolkenkratzer das zweithöchste Gebäude von New York, und nur um etwa 40 Meter niedriger als das One World Trade Center (541 Meter bis zur Turmspitze).
Which is correct, as of now the tower (~500m) will be about 40 meters shorter than 1WTC's pinnacle height (541m).

You probably used Google translator, because he sure didn't write "feet" anywhere in the article.

And btw this guy has dozens of articles on NY skyscrapers, so I don't think he's trolling. Also see his signature - the SSP thread "New York supertalls" is a goldmine.

Okay, I agree with you on that note, and i've myself checked his thread and found it useful, too but "would you mistake an ignorance for a troll". That's where I found him offensive.

Should we discuss what type of design we'd like to have for this building?
I'd say it would be dashing if it got the design like that of 8 Spruce Street but glass-cladded.

Once again, something like Seattle's Columbia Center would be nice!

It's obvious many people want a structure with rounded corners here..

I can't wait to see a render by Adrian smith. Whatever its going to be i hope it will be edgy futuristic but staying true to NY .

What i like about the design of Tower Verre is that its different but at the same time its NY to me. Its kinda hard to explain.

Can we expect a release of a rendering bt the end of this month?

Well the renders for One57 didn't come out until six months after construction had begun. So it could be awhile.

Went by the site. Still nothing happening - at least nothing that is visible:

The only thing I can see is that the existing orange excavators apparently had sex and now there are a couple baby excavators on site.

This project isn't in prep, it is still demo then. Hopefully they'll speed things up soon.

BTW, I have a question on my own pics.

Why does that lot just look rubble strewn? I mean, wouldn't the buildings that were there before have had basements? And if so, shouldn't there be a big hole in the ground where those excavators are?

Instead, they seem to be on regular ground, albiet covered with bricks.

Right now, i'm staying at hong kong, and i have visited shanghai quite a few times. As i see skyrocketing proposals and construction in these cities i feel like New York will lose the amazing place it's held in the history. I am really jealous of china. How can i cope with jealousy? The hope only left is this Nordstrom tower. Will it keep up with my hope?
