"With Tuesday's approval by the Landmarks Preservation Commission of plans to raze part of the old BF Goodrich Building on Broadway, the developer can advance its plan for a 1,550-foot spire on West 57 Street.

Extell Development Company has moved a small step closer to putting up the city's tallest spire....

Any deconstruction left before excavation, yet? Is it this black-netted building? Is its name Goodrich building? Is it true it will only partly be torn down?

Interior demo is proceeding on the building with black netting. That building, 225 W 57th, already was scheduled for demolition. However, partial demolition of the adjacent building, 1780 B'Way, will occur as per today's reports.

I have been by the site couple of days ago. Nothing additional, but I specifically noticed guys working in the building with the net taking it apart. I think it may take another few weeks to remove anything of value from there before they will demolish it. But they are definitely working inside there you can plainly see and hear them.

Good news, means the tower sure won't be any smaller. I think it's time to place our bets on the final height!
I say:
- Roof: 1620ft
- Crown: 1650ft
- Tip: 1660ft

So no spire.

Yes that is great news! Can't wait for some official stats to be released along with some renderings.

Can i just take a looong nap and wake up until then?? hopefully not to long.

Honestly, i hope there will be no spire on this one but what ever the design will be i believe Adrian Smith will come through.

Adrian Smith and Gordon Gills. They designed the Burj Khalifa, Kingdom Tower, and some other chinese supertalls.

The safe bet will be that the Nordstrom tower will be at least 1,640 feet, but who knows hopefully Nordstrom mechanical floors will be huge like 1 wtc .

I think this is honestly the craziest proposal for NYC, to date.
With renders already available, I think it'd put this restlessness at ease.
