Looks less like an airport and more like a hospital or even an office building. Not very comfortable or light...actually its just really poorly designed. I would have expected much more light, much more vegetation and open air spaces. Instead it looks cramped and uncomfortable.

Hope the renders above change people's oppinion about SDU. It is a domestic airport located downtown Rio de Janeiro. The airport was refurbished not long ago where a new terminal was built beside the old one and a new connector for the air bridges was also designed and added for passengers convenience and comfort. This airport serves more exclusively shuttle services between Rio and São Paulo and other southeast capitals of the country.

Looked at the Rio 2016 Bid Book and it looks like there are supposed to be two satellite terminals built in the airport. If Galeao Airport had any satellite terminals, where in the area would they be built?

They will be built right in front of the present terminals. Check the second screenshot below:

As you can see there are also plans for the construction of a third terminal opposite the other two, but unfortunately it will not be complete in time for the 2016 Olympics.

Galeão is currently able to receive 15 million passengers per year, and the expansion works for the Olympics will increase its capacity to 25 million pax/year.

Build the third terminal after the 2016 Olympics. And I didn't know they proposed a third runway, also.
