One of the last houses of the Ottoman Belgrade ( Until the end of 19th century most of Belgrade constituted of such architecture)

The Palais Rose in Paris (located 50 Avenue Foch) was destroyed in 1969 to build a luxury building.



According to the Ministry of Culture, who was questionned about the destrution, the Palace did not show any archeological value:

Pour que le ministère d'Etat chargé des affaires culturelles puisse intervenir afin d'imposer la conservation du Palais-Rose, il aurait fallu que l'immeuble soit classé parmi les monuments historiques, ou au moins inscrit sur l'inventaire supplémentaire des monuments historiques. Il ne l'est pas. Une proposition de protection à ce titre fut présentée à la commission supérieure des monuments historiques, dont l'avis est légalement indispensable, mais ne fût pas retenue, motif pris de l'absence de valeur archéologique de l'édifice. Le Palais-Rose n'est pas non plus compris dans le site classé de l'avenue Foch ; il est en retrait de sa limite administrative. Dans ces conditions, il ne restait à mon administration qu'à suggérer des solutions qui permettraient la conservation de tout ou partie du Palais-Rose. C'est ce qui fut fait, mais les projets dressés par les architectes chargés de l'opération ont montré à l'évidence que des bâtiments modernes répondant à un programme important ne pouvaient pas s'harmoniser avec les bâtiments existants. L'installation dans ce palais d'un musée de la Belle Epoque ne pourrait être réalisée que par la ville de Paris, sans le concours du service des monuments historiques.
