Finaly Hatay has a real terminal ,and a nice one ! I remember 2 years ago landing there , such a surprise entrying the former "terminal" : the size of a house crowded with 150 persons waiting their luggage in front of a smalish luggage belt...it was surrealistic !
Turkish deciders are the bests for smart infrastructures ! Şaka Şaka.

hataya hava alanı yapılması süper oldu. hazır suriye ile vizeler kaldırılmışken, şimdi suriye ve diğer arap ülkelerine de buradan uçak kalkacak. gerçekten süper oldu...

Havaalanı zaten 3 yıldır var sadece yeni İç ve Dış Hatlar Terminali yapılıyor çünkü 3 yıl önce yapıp açtıkları klasik küçük kutu şeklindeki terminal binası yoğun ihtiyacı karşılayamadı, çoğu ilin otogarları bile daha büyüktü o terminal müsveddesinden...

Bu arada küçük bir düzeltme: İskenderun-Antakya (Hatay değil)-Laskiye-Halep Otoyolu olacak, Hatay diye bir şehir yok Hatay ilinin merkezi Antakya var. Ben Antakya'ya otobanı uzatacaklarını sanmıyorum..

The DHMI statistics shows +- 575 000 passengers in Hatay airport for 2010 (with +77% 2010/2009!). Hard to believe this so small terminal received so many people.

One thing seems certain: demand will grow very quickly. There are just over two years this airport did not even exist and now attracts almost 600 000 passengers!
Its location is strategic and its future seems assured. Unfortunate that the planners of this infrastructure does not have understood it in 2007 during its construction.
But with this new terminal its developpement will be çok rockn'n'roll.
I bet about +-2 millions passengers in 2015.
(Not sure Aleppo Int. Airport is very happy...)

PS: Dear smart technocrats makers, thank you to target your projects, even if it happens too rarely.
Non-exhaustive summary:
1)-Emergency for the HSR triangle Istanbul-Ankara-Izmir >>> New Izmit Bay bridge with HSR tracks now , not 20 years and hundreds of traffic fatalities (it could be called planificated murders!) later.
The connection of these 3 cities by HSR is THE urgency (not the link to Kars) .

2)-Emergency for a real integrated urbanrail network in Istanbul.
What exists is little (almost nothing, a scam for such a city !).
What is proposed is often wrong.
-Emergency for a real integrated urbanrail network in Ankara. How many years more for the longtime planned extensions? (ok, it's not Istanbul but it's the capital)
-Emergency for a real integrated urbanrail network in Izmir.
We should remind them of the existence of this city and its importance. And ask them : Why so much hate ? What is your unforgivable sin Izmir ?

3)The completion of the basic motorway network (Istanbul-Izmir; Ankara-Adana...)
and so many more priorities with more priority than the wrong bulshit priorities sold by real populist incompetents

Izmirs 'sin' is because its secular! Anyway, really nice airport, suprisingly we can build good looking airports but this doesnt seem to count for houses and other buildings.. The 'newly' build airport in Zonguldak is a shame though.. looks like its 100 years old instead of 10.

No offense to the blind and mononeuronal nationalists, the "turkish republican architecture" (sorry, I don't know how to call it otherwise) is an huge insult (to be honnest I would say a spit) to the sublime mixed architectural legacy inherited from the past of this country.
Most buildings constructed since the 20's would make The Great Sinan and similar artists depressive or even suicidal !
This architecture also poor and depressing that his Stalinist cousin seems to be a concerted program of mediocrity evenly distributed across the country.
This is not a free critical or a stupid "provocation". It's a fact apparent to all people who accept to open their eyes.
Only in very recent years shows delivery of too few worthy architectural achievements.
But the path seems difficult to accept this rich past and project into a future less ugly.
There's an French proverb that says :"Qui aime bien, châtie bien" > "Spare the rod and spoil the child"
I hope , there's no misunderstanding: I "criticize" because I like...

That's what I mean... Zonguldak deserves so much more, for years all the coals etc. are coming from this province, they get nothing back.. The roads are even terrible, on a piece of road from Zonguldak to Devrek (30km?) they are still working on it for 7 years now.. 1 part was finished but now its fucktup again so they can start renovating that part also.. Turkish mentality. But maybe I am biased because im from Zonguldak.

Anyway back on topic : I read that Hatay has a capacity of 500-600k? Is that true? Because I also read in newspapers that even zonguldak with his prehistoric airport has 500k capacity..
