Downtown Tulsa photos - Blue Dome District, Brady, Pearl District, Greenwood, and more

Here are my photos of Downtown Tulsa. Really wish I had more time and could have gotten some of the Uptown skyscraper core and the Downtown skyscraper core. DT Tulsa is one of the Top 5 Art Deco concentrations in the U.S. Uptown Tulsa is a very impressive collection of awesome modernist architecture from the 50s and 60s (that isn't always functional).

Starting with the Pearl District, an area that is beginning to heat up just east of the IDL (Inner Dispersal Loop). There is a plan for the Pearl District involving a streetscape and a canal going through the area.

Blue Dome District in Downtown Tulsa--this is a really awesome emerging area of lofts, restaurants, art galleries, etc.

The glass cube is Tulsa City Hall..aka the Borg Cube

Truly one of Oklahoma's most popular restaurants

The Brady Arts District is an area of restaurants, lofts, art galleries, music halls, theaters, museums, and primarily bars. Blue Dome is east of the DT core, Brady is north just across the railroad tracks.

This shot would be better if not for painted brick

The famed Cain's Ballroom, home of Bob Willis & the Texas Playboys and other musicians who started out in Tulsa. Ranked by many as one of the top music halls in the U.S.

Signs galore

Huge mixed-use artist community project underway

The Greenwood District was once the Black Wall Street of the U.S. Then it became the site of the worst race riot in this nation's history. The Tulsa Race Riot burned 35 blocks of downtown, left 10,000 homeless, and killed 3,000 (based on gravedigger's estimates, though officially only 39, still more than any other race travesty). Then it was swept under the rug by historians forever. Today the area is coming back, thanks to OSU who has put their Tulsa business campus there.

The brand-new Drillers Stadium downtown

The OSU-Tulsa campus:

The East Village, between the DT core and the east leg of the IDL, south of Blue Dome. This is an area of architecture firms, lofts, and the equality center:

Wow Spartan, these are freaking awesome! Seriously, you must have blisters on your feet and/or trigger finger. . . lots of distance covered and tons of photos. There are so many comments I could make on individual pics, like that's a good place to eat, or the interior of that building is sweet, or I know such and so, etc. Anyway, thanks for posting these and sharing a little of what Tulsa is all about with the forum readers. I'm sure there will be lots of "where are all the people" comments

I love glass cubes... Legg Mason in Baltimore, that new BOA building in Charlotte and your city hall are all really sexy. I want one.

Wow Im very impressed, I take it was a early Sunday morning because there was not a lot of people or traffic. Tulsa has things to offer I hear. I have never been so its cool to see how it looks downtown.

Cant wait till someone creates the True Film about Black Wallstreet.

Well, I usually jog 10-15 miles so I just thought of it as a jog. Around Tulsa, which is just a little bit bigger than Norman. Thanks for the rave review. I don't think we'll get too many comments about "where are all the people" or even comments in general, but I may be surprised.

Majestic isn't a Lesbian bar. It's a gay bar for sure.
The Lesbian bar is at 21st and Memorial behind the Subway

Didn't know that, I just always heard it was for lesbians. That would be a lot more "majestic." Just kidding, no offense to anyone.

SRG, I really liked your photos. They show the real life on the streets of this beautiful city like Tulsa, and I think all the southeast cities.

Thanks Sam, I appreciate that from you. So ironic coming from the guy making news by making OKC scale models in Russia.

D: My city looks gritty and awesome like NYC or Chicago. I feel so proud. And the rainbow flag shocked me, cause i have never thought of Tulsa as liberal at all. And you posted pictures of OSU where i am attending. I feel happy now. Let's just hope those dirty Cali hipsters don't discover our downtown and move here in droves!

Tulsa is looking good! I would say it reminds me more of parts of Pittsburgh than anywhere in NY or Chicago.

I moved from Fort Lauderdale to Tulsa for work and was there almost 4 years. Theres 10 gay bars in Tulsa man, TEN! I was surprised too and I'm a gay dude.
They range from downtown to the FAR East, like East of 169. Plus Tulsa gay pride is a decent size with like 3 weirdo protesters. You'd figure there would be more but I've never seen more than 5 or 6 protesters. Tulsa is a cosmopolitan island.

Haha. Ive only heard of Club Majestic, had no clue. I have a gay friend who says Tulsa has the highest per capita number of gay people but i thought that was just a dumb stat. I guess that 62% McCain doesn't really mean anything

It does mean something "Tulsa" isn't liberal , and the closest thing to a liberal town or city in Oklahoma is "Edmond Oklahoma" Oklahoma City top
Suburb or Satellite City...McCain 52% Obama 48% 2008 ( this is the top location in the state of Oklahoma).

huh?? you must be smoking something, edmond is as conservative as it gets.

inner okc and tulsa are definitely the liberal hot spots, followed by the college towns of stillwater and norman, and then maybe lawton (which is very diverse) and that's it. you must be thinking of a different edmond
