Losing posts due to timeout

When submitting a post it might be refused due to some state problem (too long since page renewed, active in another tab, whatever).

Whatever the reason for refusal, when returning back to the posted message using the back button the post will most of the time be gone (due to script/browser interaction). I have lost many of my posts this way, and many hours of work, as it is usually the longest post needing research and thought that time out this way.

This is a software architecture problem, I'd blame on both browser vendors and page script authors (when you go back, your post should still be there), but that is a long journey to fix.

A simple workaround before the world becomes a better place would be to affix the post after the error message.

Today the error message is something like:

Quote:
Your post couldn't be posted because of [reason].

Please do [fix].
This little change would be huge improvement and productivity saver:

I always copy my posts, particularly longer ones, and problem solved.

That's a workaround for a lack of a workaround, which apart from needless copying and maintaining when things work as they should, doesn't help when you forgot to copy "just in case" and case happens.
