Kamakura is a city in Kanagawa Japan. It's 50 km southwest of Tokyo. It is famous for it's temples and large Buddha, the Shogunate used this city to rival the Emperor's Kyoto.
I'll post some pictures everyday, so keep checking out this thread from time to time until I make a post saying "i'm done!"
Kamakura is also famous among vintage real estate lovers, and there are some companies that specialize in the market.
There are lots of old houses in the city since Kamakura was not bombarded during the WWII unlike Tokyo.
Moust of them are Jizo bosatsu - bodhisatva Ksitigarbha or in vietnamese Ðia Tang... its bodhisatva that vowed to never become buddha until hell becomes empty. In Japan its also seen as guardian of babies that where misscaried or aborted.
Thank you NihonKitty for pictures, they are great!
