Bukit Bintang congestion to worsen from September

PORT DICKSON, 12 June 2016:

The development of the Bukit Bintang City Centre (BBCC), the country’s new iconic project in Kuala Lumpur, is expected to begin in September, UDA Holdings Bhd chairman Datuk Mohd Shafei Abdullah said.

He said the project would be completed in stages – and the first phase expected to be completed in four years’ time.

The first phase, with a gross development value (GDV) of RM4.7 billion, comprises a hotel, the bazaar people, offices, a condominium, a Mitsui Shopping Centre, a 2.43ha green park and a concert hall, he added.

The second phase with a GDV of RM4 billion is expected to be completed four years after completion of the first phase.

The BBCC project is undertaken by a consortium made up of Eco World Development Group Bhd and UDA Holdings, each holding a 40% stake, as well as the Employees Provident Fund owning the remaining 20%.

The BBCC is built on the former Pudu prison site which was closed in 1996 and demolished in 2010 to make way for the redevelopment of the area.

Actually- having visited the sales gallery, I've learnt that the Signature Tower will be constructed in BBCC's final stage, set to be completed in the mid-to-late 2020s.

The hotel referred to in the article above^ is probably the 4 star hotel that isn't in the Signature Tower. The hotel in the Signature Tower is a 5 star. The article is referring to the hotel in the building next to the Strata office building.

Well it's located right beside Hang Tuah interchange, so I doubt a brand new MRT connection is even needed.

Will Etihad do a bacon sandwich for that price? I didn't think so.

tullamarine I don't think Etihad (or Emirates for that matter) will do a bacon sandwich at any price!!! Qantas customers on Sydney/Melbourne-London lost bacon from the breakfast menu following the Emirates alliance.

BaconButty I finally understand the true horrors of globalization.

Old Pudu jail site to be transformed into world-class development

by hemananthani sivanandam

KUALA LUMPUR: Bukit Bintang City Centre (BBCC) will feature a retail mall, with construction work for both BBCC and Mitsui Shopping Park LaLaport KL set to begin soon.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, who officiated the ground-breaking ceremony for the project on Tuesday morning, said the BBCC project marks "significant national-level development".

He said it was a successful example of public-private collaboration, which the Government is keen to encourage.

"BBCC is also an example of the key projects which support the Government's focus under the Economic Transformation Programme for Greater KL and the Klang Valley," said Najib.

He said the site is a "historical" location, as it was where Pudu jail, the old colonial-era prison, used to be located.
