Post office Skopje

Thanks for the photos from Skopje!
Unfortunately the main hall of the post office in Skopje burnt down. I suppose it has to burn, because the actual government doesn't like the architecture from the 1960s and 70s (see all these terrible Skopje 2014 projects) and the site is quite good and central.

Kenzo Tange and Skopje

There are 3 main elements in the design from Kenzo Tange you can find in Skopje: The city gate, the city wall and the connecting link. From the gate and the link you can see the railway station (by Kenzo Tange himself) and the National Bank, from the wall are about 1/3 realized and the ideas of the link you can find in the City Shopping Center. See photos here: http://www.ostarchitektur.com/Macedo...ja-Skopje.html

It's going to be renewed, as it is, thankfully...

This is an older photo, (August 2013), where you can see the reconstruction of the roof. In the fire the roof was damaged, as well the murals of a very important Macedonian artist.

I wish they would renovate the entire building. Those AC units are terrible.

I actually don't hate the above style of Brutalism - it has symmetry and the window lines produce a sense of harmony across the base and facade. And, it's got a base, meaning it's tried a bit to fit into the surrounding context. It's almost like modernism / brutalism.

That's good looking. Brazil has some really nice architecture.

Probably been posted before but Wyndham Court, Southampton. Supposed to represent a cruise ship and is protected by the local authority for being an expressive contextual piece and fine example of British new brutalism. Not something im generally into but can see the appeal as a unique pice and im glad its protected.

I wonder if those window frames are original. Usually these concrete estates had nice black frames when they were first built then got replaced with cheap-looking white ones.

The Economics University Building in La Plata, Argentina. Nowadays is been cut of a part behind the building (wich was attached of an historical building... the part being cut altered the symmetry of the builiding aniway, so it's a good thing, I guess).
