altough brutalism often is referred to as commie-architecture it seems like the US have quite a lot of brutalistic universities and colleges

I find there is more brutalism outside of the former communist countries than within them. After all, it first started in western Europe with the Bauhaus movement. I wouldn't call the infamous apartment blocks pure brutalist, but mostly international style (done wrong)

Stalinist architecture is from communist countries, not brutalism.

This brutalist garage is one of the best in the whole universe. It's not a building, but it is still a brutalist structure. A good one.

"The project, a submerged parking complex/trophy case for the client’s Porsche collection, consists of five concrete apertures embedded into the side of a hill that overlooks a small alpine village. Each of the enclosures is faced with a full-height glazed panel that exposes the vehicles to the exterior and which, when retracted, allow entry to the garage’s interior."

I think there is a bit of terminology confusion here?

I might be wrong, but I believe that the term "brutalist" is reserved to buildings that explore the elements of their structure in a way that projects them, or leave them exposed, or reinforce their aesthetics by augmenting them.

Some of the buildings post here are nice looking buildings, but they are not exactly brutalist (which I think is often substituted for the larger set of modernist-functionalist buildings of the 1950s-1980s which use a lot of concrete and larger-than-life forms).

Wasn't UMass Dartmouth done by Paul Rudolph? I'm thinking of doing a Rudolph thread if there isn't one but I'm on my phone.

Quoting from the Brazilian Forum, a brand new brutalist complex called Praça das Artes in a run-down part of downtown São Paulo:

A fonte é a mesma da notícia acima.
The one-before-the-last picture has been changed from the original quote because it has a newer, more beautiful image of the complex after its innauguration.

It is amazing how Japan and Brazil are so different in so many aspects, but sometimes I see a picture of Tokyo and I immediately think of São Paulo!

Well, I guess that you aren't so different, after all.
